Rear Wash Switch

Post by JohnHA »

Hi,
Looking for a Black tailgate window wash/wipe switch for 1992 GTI K reg.
Citroen part number 96008430XX.

Mine works but requires constant finger pressure. In other words, the blxxdy thing won't stay on and wipe intermittently.

Can anyone help?

I could be wrong on this (I usually am) but aint that how they're supposed to be :?

Estate ones stay on intermittent. I think. :?
They think it's all over, it is now!

Yup - saloons get a one shot press only - estates get a locking one, but its not just the switch that difers on the estate.

Rear wash switch

Now i am confused, my local Citroen Independent garage has a GTI and when i was speaking to him this morning on another matter, he demonstrated his switch to me, which clicks on (and lights up) wipes three times then pauses then wipes and contiues the same until switched off!

He reckons all GTI's are the same.

Now what do i do. :?

Just to throw a spanner in the works, my 1.9 RD hatch had a clicky intermittent switch!

I've got 3BX's (not showing off honest) & all of them have the single wiper motion, so that chaps may have been modded or possibly a late model which had the feature added? or it could be knackered citroen electrics

I've had 6 GTi's (1987-1992 models) and none had intermittent 'on' switch functions, they were simple one press-one sweep and hold down for a squirt.

Only my TXD estate had the full works.

Rear wash/wipe switch

Post by JohnHA »

Thanks for all the replies.
Here is a bit more info just to be difficult.

From Haynes Service and Repair Manual (don't laugh) Citroen BX 1983 to 1994, section 13-56, Wiring Diagrams :-

No-551 Rear screen intermittent wiper switch. Circuit No-V11, Location 2 to 9.

Section 13-52 Wiring Diagrams. Diagram 6 - All Models from 1987 - circuit V11.

I am not much good with wiring diagrams, but now what? :?

Yeah I agree *but* when trying to reverse in the pouring rain, I'd prefer to have the option of an intermittent rear wipe. Try keeping your finger on the button when you're trying to reverse and turn out of a space in a busy carpark during a torrential downpour at night!

Do what I did and give your rear screen a double treatment of Rain-X 8)

Easily solved Mark, always make sure you reverse in, that way you can exit by going forward :D. Besides, thats what wifes are for isnt it? (i mean them pressing the button)....
