To be or not to be???

Post by m_2975 »

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/CITROEN-BX-TZI-T ... dZViewItem

This beauty is up for sale over here.

Really tempted but it's about 8 hours drive away from me.

It's about 1200pounds and has 85,000 miles on it.

That translates to a very decent price over here for a BX.

The car looks like new and seems to be very well looked after.

The question is do I have a punt at it?

I mean I already have a Blue GTI and a Red TZI so all i'm missing is the White TZI to make up the French flag!

The flip side is that it's another car to comply (MOT), register (TAX) and insure. That equates to about 360 pounds a year.

Therefore I would be paying 1080 pounds a year to have the trio on the road and that doesn't include petrol!

I would have liked another model besides the TZI but that's all we got over here apart from the 16V and I don't want one of those.

I don't know what to do people so suggestions would be great.

Think rationally though!

Well I say if you've got thhe money and you want it then go for it, it looks damn nice and surely there aren't that many BX fans where you are so if you don't then it'll probably go to someone who won't appritiate it.

Just to put things in perspective it costing me £900 to keep just my Xantia on the road this year for the tax, insurance and MOT.

Either that or you could leave it in the hands of fate and just take a bid, if its meant to be you'll win it if not you won't

Nic, you are a man with my thinking!

I dunno though. I rekon that my family would banish me for 3 BX's!

It was bad enough with two!

Well Tim,

Come over here and save me from it!

I need to work out where to store it if I were to keep it.

Not to be!

In the last dying minutes, when I was really weighing up my options (be banished from the family or own another BX) the seller ended it early with no bids.

I suppose I didn't then have to make a decision between family and a BX

ahh well mike, obviously not meant to be, there are always signs, I was deciding whether to bid on a Yugo (don't ask) only yesterday and my laptop hardrive blew itself up as lifes way of saying its not for you... being outbid would have been a far less expensive way of knowing but it just goes to show if its not meant to be its not meant to be :)

Exactly Nic,

I'm probably better off without it anyway.

How's the BX hunt going?

Not too well at the moment, as above my laptop blew up so I've had to use my BX fund to buy a new one so I've got to start saving again now (sods law will dictate that a mint TZD will unveil itself down the road from me now).

Yes I have been eyeing up your BX tim but my age is the problem as I'm 21 so insurance companies still don't take kindly to those GTi letters so I'm either looking for mint and cheapish TZD (unlikely I know) to replace my annoyingly reliable Xantia or somthing like a BX14 or 16 to run alongside it, either way I can't really afford it at the moment :(

How are yours going Mike, I still can't get over the fact that you insurance is so cheap 'down there'

Nic,

Well it's not really cheap when you think about it because I wouldn't dare claim on it! They are all crooks and the only reason I have it is so that I can pay to repair the other persons car if it's my fault.

Both my cars are going well. The GTI is "Sleeping" in the garage until next Sunday to come out (if it's nice weather) for a blast! It badly needs a service though. Haven't changed the oil for about a year and I need to renew all the filters.

The TZI is soldiering on well but I have to investigate a suspect timing belt tensioner very soon as I don't want it to break and ruin my 87k mile engine!

Oh well...at least I enjoy them dearly. If I didn't have them to work on or go to work i'd be lost!
