XM V6 SEi For Sale

Post by Ian_Fearn »

Late 1993 Citroen XM V6 SEi, originally a Citroen UK car and since then enthusiast owned with literally no expense spared on its upkeep. This is what some believe is the best of the breed XM’s being a very late series 1 where they’d sorted the electrical gremlins and before slightly toning down the ‘Citroeness’ in the XM.

Black paintwork in exceptional condition for its age (and for an XM!) with black leather again in real good order.

History as follows (there’s additional stuff there too!) currently at 140k

139k Oil and filter
Gearbox oil
137k Replacement door lock assembly

135k Oil and filter
Gearbox oil
Track rod end
Both handbrake cables
131k Centre sphere
Front electrovalve

Strut gaiters
Strut top mounting replaced (one for the other side is in the spares)
Around same time have receipt for front spheres fitted
No mileage but again around 131k Interior sensor probe
Rear door lock button
LHM tank sealing ring
129k Oil and Filter
Gearbox oil
Door lock assembly
Battery
Outside air temp sensor
Spark plugs

124k Aircon regassed (now lost charge again)
122k Front spheres
Accumulator sphere
Hydraulic pump
119k New indicator switch

Aircon regassed
117k Dinitrol protected underside
116k Full service including:
Engine and gearbox oil, HP pump belt, alternator belt plus various other items

115k Rear outer spheres replaced

New pressure regulator
113k ABS block replaced

112k Distributor cap and rotor arm replaced
New OSR window mechanism
Aircon regassed
111k Full service
Starter motor heat shield fitted
107k Rear discs and pads
106k Major service
Wheel bearing
New starter motor
New V6 SEi badges
98k Full service
3x Rear spheres

81k Main dealer service
72k Main dealer service
63k Main dealer service
54k Main dealer service
45k Paul Johnson XM centre service
42k Main dealer service
32k Main dealer service
23k Main dealer service
18k Main dealer service
9k Citroen UK service
1k Citroen UK service

Included is obviously the full history file which includes a page from an old autotrader where the car was advertised in 2000 for over £4000.

Theres quite a considerable spares package with the car as well including (off the top of my head)

Cables for the window units (they’re all fine but should one go they’re there!)
Parts to fix the sunroof
Rear boot lid reflector panel (off a newer XM should you prefer those badges)
Original steering wheel (has been fitted with a proper Citroen single spoke wheel)
Brake discs
Air con Reciever/Dryer unit
Air Con condenser
Various relays and switches
Radiator hoses

Pretty sure theres other stuff but I’ve never catalogued it.

Honesty bit: Whilst the car is in fabulous condition it does have a few ‘quirks!’
Sunroof is jammed (bits are there to fix it as are the instructions)
Air con doesn’t blow cold, again there are parts there should you wish to get it going
Cruise control looses speed, suspect vacuum pump as EVERYTHING else has been replaced now
Occasional clicking of starter motor when starting the engine. Minor niggle and always starts though.
Occasionally when you press the indicator the stereo looses sound for a split second, again its not really something you notice that much.

The car really does drive fabulously and it looks stunning and it has the (in my opinion) better ZF gearbox (non-autoadaptive) and with the number of oil changes this thing has had there shouldn’t be anything to worry about there. Its shod with 4 Michelin Pilot Premacy’s, 2 of which are nearly new.

MOT till the end of May and taxed till the end of feb I think.

Would anybody be interested? Money wise any interested parties and I could come up with some kind of arrangement. I’m selling it because a; I never intended to keep it long and b; my trader insurance policy is coming to an end and I wont be renewing it this time.

Car is half way between Derby and Burton on Trent and I’d take some pictures if the weather wasn’t so damn awful!

No, a member of the XMclub.

I was surprised at the amount of interest in it though.

How basic do you want, Ian? I've got a 1200 Triumph Herald I'm looking to sell at the moment. Needs some bits doing, but it's nice as long as you don't fry yourself on the seats!!

Oh, I've arrived a bit late at this thread. Is this the XM backlash happening? I recall about four months ago they were really the flavour on this forum. Your example sounds like a good one too Ian. But there must be some reason why only 35,000 XMs were made as opposed to 2.5 million BXs. I see more XMs on the road here in D than BXs however - they were pitched against Bimmers and Mercs and obviously failed but some people still like them.

I couldn't help also noticing Jayboy's modest stable of Citroens - reckon you need a warehouse to store that lot not unlike the one Citroen themselves have got outside Paris :D

How about Sinkwheel's very early Renault 5 Ian? Cracking looking car and seems quite reasonably priced to me.
