It certainly is. Sounds like it could be a goer, from the owner's description on the phone! Shame you're not about this weekend, but I think it would be more than your life's worth to cancel your trip at this stage ;)

Game on!

I feel the vague beginnings of a plan...

Seeing as you now have an interview in Woking on Monday ;)

Lucy said p'raps you could stay Sunday night (not sure yet what time we're getting back from Ireland) - in which case you could come up on the train and view the car in the afternoon....? :-k

Can't promise anything yet but... just a thought!

I have just put down a deposit on this car.

That mnde is a bugger, don't trust him - he was supposed to be there to stop me from doing something silly but he only encouraged me

Yes, he came across very well both on the phone and in person. The car was as he described it, very clean, very tidy TZD Turbo with a hydraulic leak! I was very impressed by the service history and the level of detail of work that's gone into it.

We weren't able to track down the hydraulic leak, but it will drive a few miles as it is, so I'll be able to get it somewhere for repair and then I think it will be a very tidy car. A plan is being formulated ;)

EDIT: forgot to say, it is shiny Olympic Blue with unmarked black cloth interior. Very smart.

Moi? I did nothing...

FWIW I think it's a real cracker, especially with that hugely detailed history file. The owner seems to have gone over it with a fine tooth comb after he bought it, putting all the minor niggles to rights. I'm pleased that it's yet another West Heath Citroen (Farnborough) car, has lived locally all its life and apart from the trader, has had only one previous owner.

From my cursory look underneath at the rear floor, it seems sound - although I think the underneath could do with a bit of a wash. I noticed the front wheelarches were caked with mud. Couldn't do a lot of checking underneath because the hydraulic leak was a constant drip so it was just a quick "up and down" again just to show us where the drip was and that the system otherwise worked ok. Nice clean engine, didn't smoke. Fingers crossed, this hydraulic leak will be a simple fix as, although we were unable to verify from our quick flick through the history docs, all the reservoir pipes looked clean and "new", certainly not 18 years old! And even the loadspace looked fresh, which must be rare for a BX Estate!

See? See? Right there! He only encourages me!

Still, it doesn't matter - I'm single so don't need to justify my car-buying to anyone :D

Next weekend's full up for me but I'm hoping to arrange something for the weekend after... I'll let you know!

I've arranged to pick the car up this Saturday :) It may be a case of trailering it home and working on it there, or I may manage to get the hydraulic leak fixed locally... we will see when we get there!
