WANTED Radio Cassette or CD player for a BX

Anyone got either a Blaupunkt OE radio cassette or any half decent Radio CD for a 1991 BX?

Will pay excrutiatingly small amount of money for it but it will go to a good home

Argh, I had a OE Blaupunkt Boston r/c radio in my 1991 car, complete with manual and code... but I whipped it out and gave it to David R because the radio was duff (no signal getting through from the aerial). Dunno what the problem was, but it's now replaced with the Clarion radio CD player from my old Meteor, RIP.

I've got an XM radio cassette unit. Guess the only prob is matching up the connectors...

I have a Sharp(?) radio cassette that was previously in my BX (I believe this to be original) but is at least of similar age. I will dig it out if you want and check.

You can get Kenny's in Halfrauds now for around £60 mate. New oens ain't as much as they used to be.

You can get cheaper still, but they'll sound gash. Mind you, the standard speakers aren't up to much abuse really (unless you divert all the bass away to a sub and use them for treble

)

I've got a spare Blaupunkt which i took out of the TXD, yours if you want it (gratis). Did work fine until the battery was disconnected & then i put the wrong code in & it never let me put another code in. If there is a solution to that tiny issue, then it should work fine. I can bring it to Stratford if thats any use?

Yes, I picked up a BX GTi auto toady. And very nice she is too.

And yes, Kitch if I decide to go that route I will buy new. But putting £60's-worth of stereo it the car would be 40% of what I paid... So if cheap motoring is the objective, then I am going to keep it that way. (Not about to repeat past mistakes

)

Mulley, sort the coding issue out and there might well be beer tokens involved...

I've got the correct code, but i dont know why it never allowed me to re-enter it. Because its had a long power break, it should re-set itself with any luck & once the code is put in, you'll have a working radio/cassette.

Anyone know anymore about this?

I've heard of some radios that 'lock up' if the wrong code is entered a number of times. Maybe a wrong code has been entered before but I would have thought it would reset the number of attempts available once the correct code has been entered. But they can usually be 'cracked' for not much money.

I've had that before, what tends to happen is that the delay in being able to put the code in increases. What was odd about this though was that the code was only put in wrong once, then the option to put it in again didnt materialise.

I dont think its worth posting it Phil, & because i dont have a box i'm sure it will end up at yours shaped like a banana....If you can wait til Stratford?
