I know this sounds weird, but it (speed reading issues) happened to someone I know who had a BX. The speedo was calibrated in KPH instead of MPH. Now that would actually give 132... I'll try and find more about it when I see the guy next weekend. It is to do with the internal ratios from the cable I believe. It was also sorted out under warranty. Bit late to claim now I suppose...

Which would mean he believed the speedo when it told him he was doing 70... and was actually doing 40?

Something like that Charlotte. I think the gearbox ratio to the speedo is common to all models but the ratio in the console/instument cluster box is different depending if mph or kph. The guy who had this quirk BX said his fuel consumption was really odd and he never felt in speed limits he was indicating the correct speed. So yes 90kph is 56mph etc etc, and 132kph is about 82mph.

There is one deffinative method of finding out whether his diesel bx can do 132mph, come down & visit me & i'll take my cooper s & we'll see if the bx can do that speed, i know the mini can ;) TBH, i reckon Tinkley may have gotten to the issue.

Ah, that might be me! I offered to help Mat out with admin duties on there and decided to change the link to something with the name in, as opposed to just a number. Forgot people might have bookmarked it!

So for those who have, it's now https://www.facebook.com/groups/bxclubUK/

Remembering this original thread is from Fri Sep 05, 2008, just show's how things change. Great shame I have had a lot of enjoyment out of this forum which does now look like it is drawing to a close.

I wouldn't say it's drawing to a close. Was pretty busy last week.

Those who dont go on f/b, well, they obviously can use a pc as theyr on here are missing out on a lot of things. Perhaps they feel they are all too old fashioned to make the leap onto a different communication medium. I wonder if they can text?
