Could this be the one?

Post by Matt H »

Only done 43,000 miles, one owner from new, but is an MoT failure on brakes.

Might be a worthy project, plus I'm not sure, but is that Meteor Grey? if so, would be a nice car when it's finished.

Also, not a million miles away...

One of the last phase 1's, but I think I'd want to look at it before bidding TBH.

If the brakes have failed completley it can't be anything dreadfully serious given the simplicicty of the system, but either way, I bet there's more wrong than that with it.
If I wanted a phase 1 I'd buy JonKW's, after all, it's all going, working, has been done properly and has brakes!
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

I think that is meteor grey, yeah. Could be a worthy repair, must be one of the last ph1's.
If the brake aren't working, I reckon it's probably a burst pipe and he's being deliberately vague about it, as leaking suspension is the kiss of death of a BX advert! And being a mk1, it's got the not-so-well coated pipes which do rust.

As Chris said, it's probably not too hard to put right. Obviously, anything can be fixed. But if Jon's is a bit too much £££ for your budget it could be worthwhile.

Personally, I think you'd regret not getting a ph2. If you want a quick valver and don't plan on keeping it for the duration, its good. But if you think you'll not be parting company with it, I'd hold out for your black ph2 personally mate. Either that or use this as a fixer-upper and sell it to raise funds towards said ph2.

I think you are right TBH...

A black P2 is what I want, but I don't remember seeing any for sale at all this year. I could probably live with a white one... or a grey/silver/red one, so long as it's a Phase 2

The thing attracting me to this one is the very low mileage, which in reality means jack... because it could have been abused all its life, or it's not genuine, or... well the list goes on.

I'll wait for now, anyhow, the time to fix the 14 has come, so I'm going start looking for some bits to give it a bit more go :)

It doesnt take much to covert from P1 to P2 if you really wanted. You already have the bumpers and wheels!
Lots of Motors, mostly semi broken....

Nah, I don't really fancy taking the originality away from a Phase 1... especially with 46,000 miles on the clock.

The longer I wait, and the more money I save, the better the car will be.

Around Christmas will be a good time to buy I think.
