Oil Level Sender

Post by Way2go »

My Oil Level reading has become unreliable and as the gauge works fine for the pressure it must be a sticking sensor causing it. (It either reads 0 when illuminated or low and usually works worst when cold).

Where on the engine is this sender located?
Is it easy to extract and clean?
Can it be done without draining oil or best left until an oil change?

It's located on the back of the block, flywheel end. The top of it is not far below the head and the sensor itself is like a dipstick that protrudes down into the sump. So, you can take it out without draining any oil.
It's a very easy job with the engine out, but I haven't done it in situ. Probably a little bit more tricky...but have a look and see what you think.

I ahve a new oil sender (in its original Citroen wrapping) if you wish to drop me a PM. They are known to fail because of the harsh environment in which they live
