Engine change

Post by jrdpod »

The engine has been changed in my 1991 BX Meteor.
The original one had done nearly 136K, and the big ends had started to knock.
Swapping was straightforward enough, but it was then that there were some snags.
The "new" engine (which had only done 26K), came with an auto box, so this was rematched with the manual unit from the old engine. It was thought sensible to check the condition of the clutch at this time, and the clutch was duly replaced.
However the first clutch was "wrong", the second one faulty, and it was third time lucky.
Many thanks to my friends Rob and Peter for their help and patience, with a theoretically straightforward task, that hit some problems.
Fortunately, this work was able to be done in a covered workshop.

My BX is now running fine again.
The old engine will be retained for eventual overhaul.

Regards
John Podgorski/jrdpod.
