The turbo doesn't work, an LHM leak, it's rusting underneath and costing too much to keep repairing, it's been well looked after as it was my Dads then mine and he was a citroen mechanic

The turbo could be a simple fix. What makes you suspect it is broken; does it pump out loads of smoke or make an expensive noise, or is it just not providing any kick?

Most common fault causing this I have encountered is the rubber hose between the intercooler and boost compensator on the pump going porous (does it have an oily/greasy film?) This may easily be replaced with a length of petrol pipe of the correct diameter.

And... Where is the LHM coming from? It could be a perished return pipe rather than a failed component or rusted supply piping.

my turbo wasn't working and i got our local diesel specialists to look at it.. a punctured diaphragm in the overfuelling device attached to the fuel pump.. it reacts to the said pipe delivering air from the turbo and brings in the extra fuel and hence power. they replaced this and its very nippy now. cost about €85, (£68)

This is a common problem. The turbo itself is very very robust on these engines. In fact I've only ever heard of one failure ever, and that was when the numbnuts who owned the car left a small socket in the air intake hose, which unsurprisingly made quite a mess of the fresh-air side vanes in the turbo.

In all likelyhood, there's nothing wrong with the turbo on this car.

Doesn't have to be the whole car, anyone need parts?

As I say it's become to costly to keep repairing, my Dad was a Citroen mechanic so knows how to fix it but he has given me his Xantia now so it's up for sale/parts
