Well worth it cavmad. The Bx 1600 petrol engine is such an easy lump to work on, even you could do it  If it's got the red pinstripe interior, even better

 You`ve heard of my reputation then

My biggest concern at the moment is getting it back if it won`t run-i.e how am I going to raise the suspension?
Mind you that`s assuming I actually win the listing in the first place! Owner`s got back to me and said viewing is no problem, hoping to go tomorrow morning all being well on the way back from Crewe.

Put it on a towing bar and drive VERY slowly.

I've driven my old BX over 10 miles with no suspension, power steering and about 2 miles from home just the handbrake!

pop it in second gear and tow gently for a short distance, if theres a pump and LHM it will get up, it may even start!

Thanks chaps. One potential problem is that the road back is littered with speed humps.
Then again I`ve not heard back from them ref. viewing time yet anyhow and it`s a ten day listing :(

Just back from viewing it and here`s the basic run down of what I found:

oil looked o.k but water (in rad) was a bit milky: had this before (but the other way round) ina Pug 405 and it was condensation due to short journeys.

some rust on n/s/f inner wing under the bitumen(?) close to the battery department.

unable to inspect nearside of car as parked against hedge.

from what I could see of fuel tank it didn`t look like it had sucked in.

owner says it used to run along fine and only had problems at junctions/pulling away from stop when it `felt like a fuel problem`. It then got him home and never started again despite a handful of attempts though he may have flooded it at the time.

electric windows and sunroof, red pinstripe interior-driver`s seat looked mint, rest buried under all the junk in the car.

exhaust is touching floor and will (in my opinion) rip off just getting it out of his drive.

evidence of an oil leak.

bodywork pretty good but a few knocks/scrapes.

I`ll be having a bid on it at some point but won`t be going mad as it`s quite a bit of work even just getting it back. Lack of MOT etc doesn`t help either, could be a bottomless pit to lob money into :(

Myself and Si would be likely candidates for having a damn good go at getting it started if not home! Have played footy in Vicars Cross, though quite some time ago and seem to remember it being on a bitof a hill!

That said im sure BX Rescue can get it started, and im sure it wont take long to put my finger on the problem ( )!

So when we goin?

PS im buying an AX at the weekend!

My reputation precedes me again! However I doubt if it will stay that cheap.....though it`ll be bloody funny if it does!
