Silly question alert! where does the roof rack fit on the BX roof? Is it one of the ones where the edge hooks under the top of the door seals?
I have one for the CX but it uses the gutters on the roof and I need to find the BX type

I bought a genuine Thule BX one for £14 off eBay (and I still have it NFS). I had also a new Paddy Hopkirk one from Halfords that fitted and although it cost £60 it wasn't at all bad but I sold it on...
The 'bay is a good place to start.

I bought the Thule roof bars with the genuine BX fitting kit. A Thule roof rack then clamps to the Thule roof bars when also needed.Philip Chidlow wrote:I bought a genuine Thule BX one
As a bonus, when the roof bars are on the car the forward bar positioning is able to alter the airflow in such a way that the sunroof can be open and there is little or no wind buffeting from this when driving normally or at speed.

Graeme I have a Paddy Hopkirk one you can have. I took it off my Bx when I bought it. Its taking up room here. Its had a slight bash over the years but fits perfect and its bloody big. I think it will break into component parts. You can have it for the postage whatever that will be. I'll have a look at it over the weekend just let me know if you want it. I almost put it on the bay. Glad I didn't if it's of use.

Thanks Dave, sure you don't need it?
We will be down in Bradford on Sunday afternoon (at Stan Platts's place) Is this far from you?
We're picking up a CX rear subframe and bonnet which unbelievably appear to both just fit in the BX boot! (unless I made an error in my measurements) so the roof rack may no longer be essential but if there's one up for grabs....

A CX bonnet.... I doubt it will even go through the BX's boot opening, although I can prove this either way for you, as I have a loose CX bonnet here, and a BX. I'll let you know in the morning.Aerodynamica wrote:We're picking up a CX rear subframe and bonnet which unbelievably appear to both just fit in the BX boot! I remember when I was about 7, my Dad managing to find a mint GSA bonnet to replace his rusty one...only it was green and not the orangy red to match the rest of the car. So he took it to his mate who ran a paint shop, and had it sprayed nicely to match.
Then to bring it back from the paint shop he strapped it to the roof rack, only not well enough. Wind got underneath it and loosened the straps, off it flew and landed some distance down the road. Not in quite as good condition afterwards! So be careful...
