Heater Valve Suspect

Post by Brian »

I have had my BXTZD for some years now, and have never been happy with the heat from the heater.

I have in the past flushed the system, even removed the matrix, removed the internal springs, cleaned and re assembled, but no improvement.

It has been poor compared with other BX's that I have had.

So I decided to carry out a test, start the engine from cold with the heater control set to cold and no blower"swiched seperately".
After 5 mins or so feel the 2 platic pipes from the bulk head to the valve-hot, then feel the pipes from the valve to the matrix-hot.

In my view this should not happen, as the flow from the valve to the matrix should remain cold, as the flow is by-passed back to the engine.

So I suspect a broken slider in the valve.

I dismantled a spare valve that I have, and pictures below.

4 O rings and 1 rectangular seal.

Your opinions would be appreciated, before I try to remove the valve insitu..
