1992 diesel automatic £400

Post by Brian King »

A garage near me has a 1992 BX diesel automatic for sale at £400. It belongs to the son of their accountant, and £400 has just been spent on it. I use the garage regularly for non-Citroen work and can vouch for them as being an open and straightforward lot. I think they're open to offers. Anyway give them a ring- the auto makes it quite rare. Might well be - will give them a call tomorrow. Still high bidder on the 205 auto though.

Our's has been faultless.

I wouldn't mind one last BX project, that would be to convert a BX 19d estate to an auto. Just need a good 19d estate body and an auto to scrap.
They think it's all over, it is now!

Narrow-minded fool

Actually my 16TGs was a bit on the slow side, but the GTi Auto is a different matter. The ZF box is almost (nothing's ever perfect) ideally mated to the GTi 8v. Kickdown is good and the standing start is pretty respectable too. Don't knock it if you haven't tried it.

And if it's auto's in general - yes they can't compete - in certain criteria - with a manual, but have you driven a straight-six Mercedes auto ?... Now that's smooth. 8)

I'll confess I haven't, and if I had a Rolls, I guess I'd want it auto. I just rail generally at having my choice taken away from me! I've owned a couple of autos, and in traffic, they have their place.

You speaketh like my dad! 70 years old with two replacement hips and knees, in pretty much constant leg pain, WILL NOT drive an auto. He still sees himself as some Stirling Moss figure and want's to COMMAND the car rather than let it take some of the unecessary work out of it!

I respect everyone's view here: I drive both manual and auto. One day, or one journey, a manual will win over, another day it's the auto... freedom of choice. There you have it. Marty needs an auto I guess. And although a 1.9 n/a diesel auto BX won't make him an Emerson Fittipaldi it could well do the job. :D
