maroon is a nice colour for the mk1.
wolsey house motors in norfolk have an 84 BX 19 RD at the moment, previously owned by ex-cit mechanic, sounds like its been completely overhauled and 'bright' red they claim, i'm awaiting pictures from them at the moment. I'd really like a mk1 at some stage. They are advertising this one at £700. If i win the lotto i'll be on the 1st ferry over.

I've got pics of that as i enquired about it a while back
it's shiny, but could be cos it's wet, and the doors look rusty. seriously overpriced if you ask me
where are those photos - bear with me

Not only doors but leading edge of rear wings too by the look of things. God knows what else. Shame about the Pug alloys aswell but does look good generally.

One could easily stick 4 "new" doors on it.
I am surprised that it has tweed seats. I would have thought that a B reg 19rd would have had those really cheap "bri-nylon" things in, like both my Mk1s did. The seats could have been swapped I suppose, but the door cards also look tweed, however you can't see the top of the door cards. I wonder if they are MK2 door cards? in which case one could have serious problems trying to get some Mk1 door cards.
On the other hand, I could just be completely wrong and it may all be original.

Tweed was available on the TRS/TRD and GT (actually it was standard on the GT) so a Mk1 can have tweed from new.
I think that's the same colour as mine.
Alloys! I was going to ask what type they were but it's been said! - I'm not absolutely sure I like them - they look a little out of place but sometimes the Mk1 looks great with alloys - I just don't know..

We had a B reg 19RD in '85 and like ken said it had the bri nylon trim which wore badly so I imagine that car has had a TR/GT interior upgrade. If anyones after a MK1 Tweed interior I know Artic Steel is breaking a late model 16TRS auto which is very clean but the shell is pickled. With those alloys and the fact its doubful is got PAS it will be "labour intensive" when parking!

yeah i like the original wheels on these. the guy in wolsey said pretty much everything has been overhauled or changed on the car, that may include the interior. The cit mechanic guy apparently was getting it ready for export to new zealand, but the laws changed and it wasn't worth it. he said he reckoned £150 would sort the flaky doors out, he said it wasn't rusting so i guess it might have been 'treated' to stop spreading but not tarted up.
The red and the grey and the design of course really give me that early 80s vibe tho which i love.
He says it drives as near to new as he's experienced in a mk1. Pretty different to the mk2 ride apparently. I need to have a go in one one day!
sounds like i'm doing a sales job on it
i was surprised by the non PAS steering on the 17 TGD i recently aquired, couldn't shift the wheels when stationary, but anything over 0.5 mph and it was really light.

Agree on that one Max, the ride difference between the GT and TRS I have, which are both similar miles and are in good nice is quite amazing, the Mk1 ride is significantly better, on the Mk1 doors, they do have a tendency to rust more than on Mk2s Ive found, they also sound alot tinnier and made of thinner steel, but i dont know if thats true or not, Ken?maxgreenwood wrote:. It wasn't mentioned in his advert in the lastest CCC magazine (Feb '09). I wonder if it has sold, it's been advertised in there for a few months now. I am only a few miles from wolsey. I bought my XM from him and sold my CX to him. Would really really like to look at this BX but know I'll buy it if I go too close!

No I don't think so, if anything, being older they're probably thicker steel. But they do have less erm (that horrible black sticky stuff) stuck on the inside of the doors. So they do sound very tinny. But MK2 doors are just the same, so easy swap.Roverman wrote:Agree on that one Max, the ride difference between the GT and TRS I have, which are both similar miles and are in good nice is quite amazing, the Mk1 ride is significantly better, on the Mk1 doors, they do have a tendency to rust more than on Mk2s Ive found, they also sound alot tinnier and made of thinner steel, but i dont know if thats true or not, Ken?maxgreenwood wrote:.
