Hi.
I tried this on the SEARCH function but got a page full of machine code. Sorry if this question has been covered before, but was airconditioning ever offered on the RH drive manual TZD? If so, do they ever come up for sale and finally, if so what kind of price should I expect to pay?

Interesting question, i know they came on the valvers as an option, i've seen a few diesels with a/c fitted, but whether that was factory or added later i couldnt tell you, others with more knowledge might be able to educate the both of us. They have been retrofitted to members cars before, lots of work, time & potentially expensive.
If you saw a bx with a/c, chances are it wouldnt be working anyway, i doubt it would add that much even it was working anyway, as these cars arent sought after, other than by us....

Factory fit airconditioning.
Thank you. From what you tell me, it seems that on the few BXs originally fitted with it, it needs major repairs to get it woprking. I think the BX was contempory with the XM, or at least production overlapped. In most cases, the aircon on the XM usually needs nothing more than re-gassing. I guess on the BX, aircon was a very expensive optional extra, and perhaps wasn't very succesfull?
To mat fenwick; was it your BX turbo diesel Estate you fitted it to?

Not exactly sure what the question was here but will answer it as I read it.
First ever BX I saw with Air Conditioning fitted was when I got one in new Zealand. Apparently its quite common here to have air con well practically every car has one and given the humidity levels in summer and the extremes on the east coast up into the 30c plus range a wise investment.
Of the 3 BXs owned out here the 19TZS is fitted but the 16RS and 19TRS were not so lucky.
Does it still work in the 19TZS? Yep about the only thing that seems to be working properly at the moment
Guess it could be country specific though?

If a system need re-gassing, then to my mind (and certainly in my experience) it is because it has a leak...so you really want to rectify that before re-gassing it. In my case it was the condensor in front of the radiator that had corroded through, and finding a replacement was neither easy or cheap! I would expect it on any car of this age that has air conditioning really, and from what I hear from those who know more than me, it is a very well designed system.
Yes, it is the estate that I fitted it to, about 2 years ago now. It is easier on the later bodyshells, as they already have the holes cut out for the various pipes etc, and are just blanked off.

When they are working properly, its one of the best (most powerful) a/c fitments around. Certainly miles better than those fitted to my 2005 scenic, or my old 92 landrover discovery. The best technical info I found is on the Aussiefrogs site somewhere, Our late and lamented friend AlanS knew it inside out and gave lots of useful advice. Good luck! I reckon it would be easier to take a car with a/c, and then change the engine to what you want rather than retrofitting the a/c to a particular car.
