Winning bid was a little steep, but I wanted it.

Congratulations!

I really hope this car turns out to be as good as it looks for you.

Just one word of warning though. If you haven't collected it yet, remember the golden rule of ebay buying.

"Keep your money in your pocket until you are satisfied with the car"

Watch out for pressure in the water system, there could be a small amount, but leave the engine running while you check the car over, if there is a lot of pressure, WALK AWAY or renegotiate with the seller. Headgasket failure is not uncommon and extremely costly to fix. Pretty much everything else is fixable.

Good luck and we look forward to hearing more about it on here later.

Thanks, I will be collecting tuesday. I have already seen the car, only a few minor problems which can be fixed. You're right however in that I should still be careful, it has little/no service history as this was "lost" however the seller seems genuine, and is a member of this forum I believe. Not sure what his name is though.

I know that there should be a clicking sound from the suspension once in about every 30 seconds ... I will check for this.

I will be posting about the few little niggles in a couple of days, just because I'm not sure about 1 or 2 things.

One thing of note is the build quality. It's better than my ZX, no rattles. This is better than I was expecting!

Is this a sign that values of good BXs are rising?

I paid £550 for mine about 5 years ago, similar condition with less miles and an almost complete service history! (But without any alloys).

Congratulations anyway, and I hope it turns out to be a good 'un.

I'm hoping to go during the day, if the seller can do that. I should be fine, got a lift there and I'm driving back. Cheers though :)

Tidy car, and if it's as good as it seems then you're on to a winner....

... but man alive that went for some money!

I've a feeling that there won't be any cheap cars around for a while. With new car sales as slumped as they are, everyone is looking one rung down the motoring ladder and so cheapies are suddenly in demand.

Someone else really wanted it too. I'm paying more than I'd like to but at the end of the day it seems like a good car, shame about tax. I'll have to drive it back without, atleast I have an excuse ...

Agree with you on that point David, we have had our best used car sales month EVER (in 25 years of trading). The small economical cars are on the forecourt for a matter of days before thay are snapped up, antyhing sub £5k and less than a 2.0 you can guaratee you wont have for more than a week.

You're just asking for trouble with that attitude. If you get pinged by an ANPR camera (and they are absolutley everywhere these days) then you're looking at a nice big fine.

Insure it, and then tax it online.

Alternatively, get it transported home.
