wanted ' exhaust epansion chamber'

hi,

i am in need of an exhaust expansion chamber (the middle silencer that sits horizontally in front of the spare wheel well) as i now have a massive blow, which the local bobby was not impressed with yesterday.

if anyone has one in good nick, perhaps even with the tailipe, please let me know

I have one chris bit its for a TD/GTi so a wider bore, they arent that expensive new, I do have a brand new rear box if you need one. They are the same i think as a 1.6/1.9 carb and 1.7/1.9 n/a Diesel.

am trying to source one secondhand tim, as my local exhaust place has claimed they cant get the tailpipe off intact etc etc.

hence i thought about sourcing the chamber and tailpipe from the forum as its £40 inc vat to get the chamber, plus the fitting etc etc etc

i already have the long pipe (which i got from owen) so i may as well sort it all out at once, thats my thinking anyway.

in fact i currently have a hole in the chamber which is acting like a second tailpipe (spitting out fumes)

I have a whole 19D exhaust in reasonable condition (that's all the way from the manifold to the tailpipe.

Collect it, it's yours.

lowest ive been quoted today is £38 all in. but then i got to get a local chap to fit it, they said putting it onto the current tailpipe would be impossible, and i cant afford both new.

im told by another company that if i can get the two rear boxes somehow (through the club) then they will fit it. and they are confident they can do so.

its been one of those months...

what with the wife expecting and being off work at the moment

(nothing to worry about!)

GSF will sell you both bits for about £40 + the Vodka and Tonic.

You're going to pay someone to fit it?
FFS man, all you need is a 13mm spanner and some exhaust assembly paste.
30 mins work top, and that includes jacking the car up.

OR, take Davids kind offer and bring the bloody thing past the farm and I'll wham it on. Dont get raped by a kwik shit fitter for what is one of the easiest jobs you can ever do on a bloody car..

I have jacks and axle stands that'll lift a 20 tonne bus, I dont think a little BX will make them quake mate!

Get bits from David, bring car to the shit tip, get some assembly paste (for I have run out of it) and I'll bung it on.
