Differing heights of front and rear (compared to what?) It's all relative and although there are 'spec' heights from Citroen: lots of people vary them (some whether they want to or not) according to their needs. My own Break happens to be slightly nose down and I think it suits it.
They are adjusted by a simple lock nut arrangement (at the front anyhow) which is easily adjusted so not really a problem to do (what is alarming is the amount of difference a slight adjustment of this will achieve)....one of the reasons you should never get under any hydro Citroen unless you have a pit or the like.
Don't let small things like that put you off.....likewise the fogs I've had two CX's and both the fogs were intact (just replace a bulb, so I thought) comes to the point and there really was nothing left of the lamp behind the lens and the frame at the front. Similar lights were easily attainable from good motor factors (and some not so good ones as well  ).
However you should realise that these cars wil always require a lot more input of a mechanical nature than your avge Golf/Escort and the like simply because of their very nature......which is (I hope) why you want one.

I'm really not bothered about the fogs, and on that particular example would most likely just remove them.

Why I want one? I want a BX because they are superb to drive and great fun. I dont mind getting one with simple things wrong with it cause i'm prepared to be fairly hands on up to a point. For instance I would change a rear wiper motor myself, as would I change front spheres - but things like rear arm bearings and front struts I would hesitate to touch, less so the struts if I knew what I was doing.

I know Boxwolf well, he isn't picky about small cosmetic issues, it's more mechanical things that are beyond his abilities to repair. Unfortunately we can't all be home mechanics.

Much easier & faster to change front struts than rear arm bearings!
In fact a very straightforward job.

Totally agree with you 'Way2go' !
Not really an issue much simpler than a standard McPherson spring/damper setup.

Boxwolf, if your prepared/able to remove the front spheres :?: your already half way to changing/swapping the front struts, all that's left is the hydraulic feed pipe to disconnect the bottom strut/leg pinch bolt on the hub assembly and the three suspension plate top nut's to remove and that's basically it !
The sphere tool that you used to change Tourist's front spheres the other week or so, was lent by me via Tim, you obviously found that task NOT to daunting.
The rear spheres can be fairly easy to change (If luck is on your side) but there are a few EXTRA things you need to be aware of prior to attempting that task as you can easy damage the cylinder feed pipes and retaining plate :!:
 I always have the engine running so as to keep the pressure on between the cylinders/sub-frame this helps to prevent the cylinder rotating.
I then just 'crack' the thread on the sphere slightly and shut the engine off, then depressurize the hydraulic system prior to the final sphere removal.
This is so as NOT to crack/break the feed pipe, but this does not always work and you do end up having to replace a pipe on the odd occasion, so BEWARE !
BTW do you or Tourist have a ^^bx> 'Hayne's' manual to refer to :?:
If you don't I suggest you buy one between you and read it from cover to cover (I've already suggested this to Tourist in previous thread/postings weeks ago) then I'm sure both of you may have more (or less) confidence in what your taking on with buying/owning a BX after all there getting older not newer with age ! If you do need some good used struts I maybe able to help you out (Send me a PM).

Now when it comes to overhauling the rear radius arm bearings that a different story, I've done this three times (both sides) and I never want to repair another pair of arms ever again !
Check out link below and you will understand why ! The same goes for the four front to rear suspension/brake pipes I've done that to two BX's.

All the best to you and Tourist in finding you perfect ^^bx>

Actually RxBx, there is no real need to remove the sphere, the HP pipe or the plate securing nuts.
All you need to remove on the top is the central large (35 or 36mm ?) nut at the top under the rubber cover plus at the bottom, the pinch bolt on the hub carrier. The strut comes out leaving the top mounting c/w sphere and gaiter on the car. (rubber return pipes need first uncoupling too of course)
Both front wheels must be off the ground to achieve this, it can't be done with just one.

Sounds like I could potentially do that, hoping the BX i get doesnt come with knobbled struts though. Have to keep reminding myself that wasnt the reason I didnt buy the silver one :x the fact no others have really come up since is making me question my sense of judgement, but then again, everyone agreed i was right not to get it. Guess i'm just being impatient.

Assuming i'll need a nice pair of axle stands for the job then.

Tourist has both the brown and blue BX haynes manuals, so I might 'borrow' whichever is more useful
