The DTR is certainly not beond saving, it's just manky. It hasn't been washed or vacuumed in milennia, and the previous owner used to transport all manner of stuff in the back, including logs, bits of car, etc.

Mechanically it's not bad at all, but I think it has a leaking octopus, as there is LHM dribbling from all around the offside of the front crossmember, but only when running. I haven't investigated further, but thankfully the previous owner was using LHM to top up and nothing else.

The other thing wrong with it is the driver's seat has collapsed, and is very uncomfortable to drive. If it were to be saved it needs a complete replacement interior and about 2 days of cleaning effort.

I got it, as I was going to use the front crossmember in the GT DIGIT, but I doubt I'll ever do that, as the DIGIT shell is not really very good.

Is anyone interested in it? I'd want no more than a couple of beer tokens for it, and can deliever (for cost of diesely fuel) anywhere in the UK.

Not economical for you, but might be perfect for me to do the head&HG, slap a new belt and water pump on, weld the door pillar, and give to my sister as her first car.

If you see me (fastandfurryous) bidding on it, please don't bid against me! Thanks.

David.

jonkw wrote:Hm, I might have a go on that TZD, as I have a known good spare head doing nothing. Just have to swap the cam and valves over from the blown up one.
Problem is with it is that its um, a bit heavy for me to tow with my BX. I would have to drive up to Bucks, borrow my mates Sprinter van and his trailer, collect car from Cobham, drop hit here, then drive van back to Bucks and come home in my own car. £60 quid of diesel on a £50 quid car.
Also, whats an H reg TZD hatch worth running and "done"? No idea of the mileage on it either.Worth £300 quid running with MOT? By the time I've pulled the head off, swapped the cam and valves, put a new belt on, a new thermostat in, back flushed the rad, welded up the drivers door, serviced it etc I just can't see its economically viable once new head gasket, bolts etc are also taken into account.
Can`t you `RAC` it back?

The TZS ia a "shared" car betwen two households in lodon! :( , its dark blue and she has no idea bout the mileage or cars either by the sound of it, not sure if she can supply a picture either so Im no so sure, could be a complete wreck.

Oh no! I`m starting to think I have a less tidy TZD here with a good engine that could be dropped into that and I`ll have all the spares I need to go with it.
Can somebody buy it please in case I can`t resist the temptation to hit the bid button?

Oh you're such a defeatist!

Maybe I'll use a Chinook helicopter with the same arrangement that's used to airlift a Landrover:
