I paid considerably more than the insurable value of my valver, cost me £365, and i know full well that if it got written off then it would probably only bring back £100 in insurance! That said, i'd pay good money for a replacement valver if and when mine gets totalled (if only to use up the spares!)

Back on topic though, i don't see anywhere in the forum rules where it states that topics should stay regimented and on topic subject to a threat of death or abuse?

The "value" of a car is a bit of an outdated concept I would say. It stems from a time when the roads were clear and with a more upmarket/expensive car you could get wherever you're going faster, safer and in considerably more comfort.
Today, all cars are more responsive and comfortable but the roads are congested so the old idea of "going for a drive" for fun has been mainly reduced to "getting from point A to point B" which again most sensible cars are capable of.
So unless you have a lot of disposable income and have an "image" to support, the "value" to you of a sorted BX is the same as a new Mercedes irrespective of what residual amount it can be traded for,

Now what you will pay for either is down to you.......................

Oh, I dunno, I suspect I could say something that is MUCH ruder than just going a bit off-topic.

.... and speaking of being on topic....

I always believe the price of a car is only what someone is willing to pay for it. You can never say that a car (or anything for that matter) is "worth" a certain price. It's worth what someone will pay, and nothing more.

Just to throw a spanner in the works, chaps and co,our venereal(I think that should be venerable!!) finance leader of the dark eyebrows(are they really his and that colour,or just sticky on ones!!!).ALL cars over 10 years old are now worth at least £2000 IF you want to buy a NEW heap of junk to put on the road.I think this should expand the debate a little bit!!.

I think thats going to have minimal impact on cars as the caveat is that you have to have a roadworthy i.e. mot'd vehicle, & have owned it for a minimum of 12mths. Whats ironic is that there are plenty of cars on SORN out there that the current owners might think about trading in against a new car, but they have to go to the expense of making sure said SORN'd car is fixed so that it'll pass an mot & then it gets cubed, what a stupid system......

Around here it's still no traffic jams and no speed limit! 8) It can't last forever, as long as it lasts til I've given the 16v a good thrashing this summer.

Nitrogen in German, by the way is 'Stickstoff'

Only til March though, so it's shorttermism again by Nu-Labour, although they've dropped the Nu bit now haven't they..

I always thought Darlings eye brows were a pair of catapillars TBH!
They clearly aint his own!
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...
