1990 BX 14 Coil

Hi
Got a slight issue with the St Tropez when it gets warm and I suspect its the coil that's at fault. Its fine when cold but starts running rough and misfiring when warm or in traffic.

Can anyone suggest how these coils are fitted? Is the coil mounted by Torx screws or is there an easier way of unbolting it?

Also can anyone suggest where I can obtain a new coil from, my local motor factor is quoting £30 for a new one. Is that about right or rather dear?

i cant remeber how they are fitted but think they have 10mm bolts,

and try GSF for a new coil, it will be the same as an AX one

the torx screws have nuts at the bottom which aren't too accessible in situ. the bracket's held to the head by two 10mm headed bolts, though, which are much easier to remove.

Is the coil the square one like on the 16V and GTI?

If so, I have one here you can try.

Yes its a square type, unfortunately the car is buried in snow and the doors are frozen shut, so I can't get into it lol.

Pretty sure its the same as a valver one, if memory serves. It does sound like the coil, although I'd check the fuel mixture too.

Gawd, BXs seem very good at freezing their doors shut, even when it's not that frosty! I'm terrified that one day, the door handle's going to come off in my hand...

I have the new bosch vack advance unit now, any ideas how you fit it? Does the dizzy have to come off?
