What about charachter? Should we all comunicate like robots?

IMHO He's comunicating just fine in his own way and adding a nice touch of personality.

Back to the car;

Paul
It's usual to pick up on a few negatives that you were not expecting when you've just bought a car but as long as the main drive train is fine and the body work structually sound theres no reason you shouldn't be able to fix the nigley little problems yourself with the assistance of this forum and enjoy the car and the experience along the way.

Medway;
As you've read this thread you are quite aware how far Paul is away from you and that it is not financialy viable for him to simply return the car to you for the repairs that should have been noticed and rectified before sale! How about a bit of financial recompence towards his cost of these repairs as a good will gesture?

It does seem that Paul has had a bit of a rough ride on this one, paying good money for a car with lots of faults, a bit like James iwth that shed of a TXD, especially from a citroen "specialist", it certainly wont help Medways reputation on here thats or sure. As mentioned I think some recompense or goodwill is in order as its too far to drive all the way back again.

I haven't sold a car in many years, mainly because most people buying sub-£500 cars seem to expect a showroom condition car in perfect mechanical and visual condition for peanuts, whinge on about minor problems, make absurdley low offers, and then bitch and complain and expect money back when it breaks down on the journey home.

Just not worth my time.

That would be an absurd solution. For all Medway Citroen know, this could simply be an attempt to con them out of some money. There's NO WAY they should consider giving monies back until they have been given ample opportunity to rectify any faults with the vehicle. If that means returning the vehicle, then so be it.. that's the whole premise of a return-to-base warranty. It's of no concern of Medway Citroen how far away their customer lives!

TBH it strikes me that this a slightly harsh lesson for Jacksun1987, but a lesson nevertheless. More the fool him for not doing a bit more research about "how to buy a car" before diving in and then complaining about the experience when it didn't go as expected.

Blimey David, lighten up. If I understood the joke in there, I have no doubt you could. You're just being obtuse :lol: :wink: I shall bite my lip then.

Anyway, back OT I don't think the issue is over expectations. It's a car bought from a Citroen garage. And it was their car for quite some time. They were familiar with the car, and for them, fixing these minor faults would've been a walk in the park ensuring a satisfied buyer, that's all.

But at the end of the day Philip it was on old car that hadn't been used much in a while.
Most of the faults seem quite minor to me (especially the chewing gum in the ashtray) and if Jacksun thinks that's bad he's going to have a major shock when he starts paying big money for cars.
Just picked up an '04 plate car with 70,000 miles on it and I wish the bleeding ashtray and a few minor niggles were my only worry I can assure you.

Any old car is going to need work, small or major jobs, and Jacksun should have contacted Medway before complaining, not afterwards.

Incidentally am I the only one to notice Jacksun a) can't spell his own surname correctly and b) types some words perfectly well and other badly, sometimes even the same word in the same message?
It just strikes me as lazy to be quite honest, there are spell checkers etc widely available free of charge.

OK Fair do's. We all make mistakes. I just hope it doesn't turn out like another Tourist affair.

What, you mean when a rather gobby teenager turns up on the forum, spouting shit left right and centre in text talk, is told how things actually work and that he was being an idiot, and he actually then takes heed of this, stops spouting bollocks and now his posts are legible and make sense?

TBH, if Jacksun1987 is going to insist on continuing to post here, if he could achieve the turnaround that Tourist (to his credit) achieved, that is surely a good thing....

Can't argue with that.

I agree. My wife's dyslexic - so bought herself a computer to get to grips with the written word using Wordperfect's spellchecker system. It turned her life around to the point where you'd now never know she ever had a problem.

As for Medway Citroen - surely they'd be mad to refund money, sight unseen, to anyone who's just bought an old banger off their forecourt. Personally, I wouldn't even ask 'em ....... :shock:
