Exactly! If your membership and posting quotes are iffy, how much else can we take at face value?
Also, where I come from, advertising your competing forum on someone else's - essentially an attempt at member poaching - without at least
breaking the ice first, isn't considered to be terribly good form. Neither is locking parts of your site until a visitor's registered with you.
On an established site this might be understandable. On yours it comes across to me like "Join my site before I show you what I've got",
whereupon you can then show what appears, to the uninitiated, to be another 'new member'.
I'm well aware of how to register on an internet forum thank you very much, but yours somehow makes me uncomfortable.
