FRONT STRUTS

The front struts on the TZI are shagged, they stick and groan and generally spoil the car as it rides very poorly indeed, which is a shame as the rear had new arm bearings and spheres last year and is smoooooth as silk!

Before I end up mortaging mysel to pleides I though I would ask if anyone has a set of a great used ones?

I have done the lubrication tricks on the struts and also with the return pipes in a jar of LHM and its made it a BIT better but they still need changing.

Can I suggest you contact Mark at Edwards: the front struts on the GTi were new old stock, fitted a couple of years ago. Mark can arrange delivery for you.

Had a reply back, £100 plus carriage, will have to wait a bit longer I think!

It sounds worth going for Tim as long as you can be sure that you get the new ones fitted to Phil's old BX. After all, I paid about £80 from pleides for one recon strut a few years back and I think they have gone up to well over £100 now.

Edwards will happily supply you with good used struts if you ask them, i bought one from them in about march, 40 quid i think it was.

Cheers chaps, ive been offered a pair FOC, condition untested as yet so will look at them and see if they are serviceable or ripe for refurb first.

Sounds like you got a bargain then as the above price they quoted is 25% up on that.
