Well you'd not have to do everything, I mean this shell already has running gear on it, it pumps up etc, surely you'd just carry across the specifics?

A shell that has never been rusty is always going to be better than a previously rusty one.

You\'d have to change a fair bit. All the wiring for a kick off (and do you want to be the man trying to pull apart 1986 French multi-blocks?!)

Agreed a never rusty shell will always be better, but one day it will rust too. As long as you stop the rot you\'re ok I\'d say. Though if it requires a full strip and rebuild (can\'t see it needing that IMO) then you\'d have to think again.

But then I\'m a purist. I don\'t agree with all the MGB owners who cry because they can\'t keep their original reg on their new shell. New shell, new ID, new car IMO. They didn\'t buy it because of the number plate!

If it's a shell that has never had an identity, I don't have a problem, recently there was some group of arseholes trying to pass a paper so they could for example, reshell an escort mexico into a popular plus shell and keep the mexico's identity, which I am totally against, as the new shell had never had a life, I can't see as it's a problem.

I've had more than my fair share of '80s french tat to pieces, unfortunately I have neither the time or the money to consider this one at this time.

I imagine the hydraulics, brakes and some of the wiring would be the same but it wouldnt be a 5 minute Job, and after it would just be a BX 1.9d with a funky dash.

Best buy the GT and transplant the Digit bits to it. (Easier said than done, of course). :?:

In this particular case, because of the rarity of the car and the lack of core knowledge from people about how/when they were sol/specs etc (I mean some people think that spoiler is original....I\'m not so sure) I would fight to keep as much original as possible.

If I\'d have had the car, it would have been repaired back to it\'s original spec, or *possibly* with a set of GTi alloys (ala the Sport) and with a pair of Dellortos. But likely totally original and using that shell.

I've only seen one of the other 2, but I'm told the third is pretty much Titanic bad.. and the other I've seen I couldn't actually sit in let alone drive since the floor had long since rotted away..

Daimler? good god no! a 1993 Dennis Lance with Plaxton Verde body.. or, at the moment, a massive jigsaw in 3000000 bits which is still bankrupting me 3 and a bit years after purchase...

it isn't, and I know where that very spoiler came from!
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

Guy who has bought the Digit is from Scotland and has already got a couple of MK1 "Sports" so its going to a good home and so is the Gt by the sounds of things over to Ireland but nobody had the heart to tackle the 16RS Auto even with all the panels thrown in?
May just keep it as i cant send it to the crusher as the bodyshell really isnt as bad as the panelwork suggests.
Max is having the engine etc out of the Cream 19TRS so that at least helps another one live on.
Regards Richard.

Good that they have found homes, shame about the 19TRS, but with the HP pipe gone I can understand.

Aye. We can't save them all so good that a dead one is helping another rather than the lot being baled.
