OK NOT A BX BUT.......

Post by Tim Leech »

A good friend of mine has a ZX 1.9 TD that was her mums from about 12 months old, done about 120k miles and has been regularly serviced, however it failed the MOT on welding (not sure where, but intend to find out) and discs and pads (new ones supplied with car)

They can’t afford to get the welding done so it’s for sale spares/repair. it runs well and the pulls like a train.

It has the same type of alloy wheel as a ZX Volcane, the body is fair, no rust but a few bumps and bangs!

£200 ono.

car is located in Coalville, Leicestershire.

The car IS taxed and can be bought separate.

Sounds like a parts car, Tim TBH. That's a lot of work needed. And that's only the stuff deemed a fail...

True, shame really, think he will weigh it as its more trouble breaking it.

..that_ Thats a lot of potential welding and in my experience it only gets worse as you start stripping back! :(

True, didnt realise ZX's were so bad, mind you the metal they are made out of does seem very thin. The engines great but its a faff taking it out.

The alloys must be worth £50?

If they're in good nick, yes. And they fit the BX (don't look to bad if that's your thing) although something has to be done about the pin in the rear hubs IIRC.

Thats easy enough, just replace it with a small screw, I did that when I fitted aftermarket alloys to the TRS (for about a week).

Alloys will be worth about £7.00 each weighed in, rest of the car should fetch anywhere between about £130-£185 over the bridge. If it's got a cat that might make a few quid on an internet auction site.
Crushing it is the best solution to be honest.

on the whole they are not - pretty decently rustproofed but I suppose getting on a bit now - I have the stable mate a 306DT but would love a Volcane TD - however, this one sounds too far gone -

these are worth even less than a 306 these days - lucky to get £400 wth 12 months ticket on it and in good condition. Brilliant cars though - if you can get a sub 100k miler in decent nick well worth it for an early oil burning hooligan

I cant say im not surprised its rotten in the sills, I imagine its not had a wash for about 6 years and is used in all weathers, which is a shame when you think her Mum paid probably a good few grand when it was a year or so old. I remember it being mint back then but as of late its just been an old banger.
