Just over a day left and up to £323.88, I reckon this could top £450.

I was tempted myself but didn't think it would reach this much, hope whoever wins it keeps us updated on here.

It's going to get "too rich" for me I suspect - I have a decent budget for 'buy car + immediately necessary repairs', but on the basis of what the last one went for and how this one is going, might need to leave it another few months until after Xsara has fresh MOT and tax (gimme a chance to save a bit more). And advance my plans to manipulate a pay rise ...

One of the questions was:

''Hi there,have you had any probs.with the clutch cable slipping off the pedal hook?I've had 7 of these cars and every one has slipped it's cable.I can replace ie quite quickly now but it's rather annoying as there's no warning.''

I've never had this happen neither??

That happened a lot on a CX 2.2 Fam that I had in the 90s. Never had it happen on any other citroen that I have owned.

I don't remember the cable slipping being a common issue when I was working for a Citroen garage in the early 90s (lots of BXs round then!). Breakages, yeah, but not detachments.

Perhaps its not being fitted correctly?? & the guy has never fitted one the correct way, hence they keep slipping off

I've had a 50% failure rate on pedal boxes!

My old TGD circa '90 did this on a recurring basis. Local Citroen specialists diagnosed a bent pedal box. Which is why I swapped the BX for a Fiat Regatta.
