Just a thought, but have you tried fitting an old timing belt tensioner?
I know it's slightly smaller in diameter, but serpentine belts are easy to get in different sizes and all you need to then do is measure with a piece of string through the same track and order by length and number of V's in it (ie 5T1225 = 5 tooth X 1225mm length)
The only difference I can see between the serpentine tensioner and the cambelt is that one's plastic, the other stainless and as CXs always had metal tensioners I can't see it being a problem.
FWIW, I have seen these kinds of things done here by the young fellows when they do certain mods, so it's not all that uncommon.

By the time you're old enough to know it all, you can't remember why you were learning.

Depends if said 4x4 is resting on the ground in low. The plastic splash shield behind the suspension strut needs to come off, then the tensioner will be dead ahead, below the crank pulley. 2 x 13m/m nuts and a 13m/m bolt undone and clunk, on the floor!sleepy0905 wrote:Mr B i will take some tools and have a look when i get chance how easy are they to get at or does the car need lifting so i can get at underneath
