Which fuel pump?

Post by oilybox »

I've just bought on eBay a 1992 BX Meteor 1.9 Diesel, currently on approx 165,000 miles, ....which fuel pump is it most likely to have? Brilliant Bosch? ....or dreaded Lucas CAV?
Also what is the visual difference between the two?

more likely to a bosch on the NA, although some had rotodiesel..
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

Looking in my technicians handbook

Roto diesel has the cold start cable at the front nearest the radiator

Bosch has the cold start cable at the back nearest the engine

Not sure what the problem with the Roto-Diesels is supposed to be... I've got them on both the TZDs, one of which is at about 200,000, the other at 175,000, and the only problem I've had is a weep from one spindle shaft, cured in five minutes with a new 0-ring...

Hmmm! My Burger Van-owning mate uses oven chips, so I'll be tapping into the resources of the local chippy for my used veg oil then, it seems..... Not much cash left for fuel (of any sort!) til Thursday, and I want to be out driving my new acquisition instead of looking at it sat on the driveway....But at least I know I have the capability of running it on veg oil....

Sounds remarkably like you're just gonna nip off down the chippy and pour it straight in! It's a little more complicated than that
I have zero patience for your tedium.
