BX TZD Saloon for sale (SOLD)

Post by tzd »

Hello Everybody, I have for sale my beloved BX TZD Saloon. I am reluctantly selling as I am buying a C5, because I am about to become a student and I will be doing a lot of mileage. It seems unfair to the BX to expect it to keep up with a heavy demand for the next three years.
The BX has all electrics working, and is tidy throughout.
It has a tow bar with double electrics.
Sunroof (electric) it does not leak.
Blow heater is fantastic, it is hot in the winter and cool in the summer.
Fog lights.
Cassette / radio
Remote central locking, and factory fitted alarm.
I have recently given the BX a full service including oil / filter, water and air filter.
It has had since I bought it;
Drivers side window winder mechanism and motor,
new drivers side wing mirror (electric)
drivers side wheel bearing 500 miles ago
all round brake pads plus front discs.
new brake caliper near side front
bottom ball joint offside
rear suspension return pipe (offside)
LHM suspension (high pressure) pump
new spheres front
four new firestone tyres 6,000 miles ago.
c.v. boot and tracking.
octopus pipe 300 miles ago.
new LHM fluid - change of fluid.

I recently drove the car to London and back to Merseyside which was 506 miles, the car returned 56.80 MPG.
Image
As you can see from this photo the BX is in pretty good shape.
Image
notice the dents down the side, these were done before I bought the car. I haven't had the skill or the cash to sort them out but they are not too bad for a car of this age.
Image
As you can see from the photo, again it is a lovely example of a BX, no rust.

OK here's the bad points.
After recently spending a lot of money on an octopus and wheel bearing the alternator shows signs of packing in, there is a faint battery light on the dash board, but I did use the car today to go from New Brighton, Merseyside to Wigan, and then on to Warrington, and the on to Broughton near Chester, then home which is over 120 miles, when I got home I was still able to start the car. The alternator is putting out 12.75 volts so will need changing soon.

That is the end of the bad points.

If you are interested then contact me here and we can come to some sort of arrangement.

Amendment

The tax is until the 30/9/12
MOT 3 OCT 12
Mileage 182,000
Price, I am asking £365 OVNO (she's worth it, trust me).
Also the ABS light comes on after going over a bump, I haven't had it fixed because I prefer not having the ABS.
Ignition is a bit strange it sometimes won't start on thr first turn of the key but usually will on the second.

If you want to test drive, and see her you will need to come within the next week, as I will be transferring my insurance to another car as soon as it is ready.
message me here, P.M. me with your number and I will call you.

I'm normally strictly estates but our main dog bx is falling to bits with tin worm and the only other bx on the road at the moment is the 4x4 which is a dog free zone. How much are you looking for? and does it have tax and mot?

1992 tzd estate, slowly being raided for parts
1992 txd estate, "doom blue" on the road

Im sure they have their good points but I really think Citroen lost their way with that one although the later facelifted estate looked a bit better.

Hi Mike, I love my BX so so much, and really I would love to keep her going until I die, but I will be travelling from New Brighton, on The Wirral through to Warrington every day 5 days a week, which involves going through Liverpool city centre during rush hour. I think it would be unfair of me to potentially run the BX into the ground, and unfair to the BX, which is why I would rather see her go to somebody in the club who will look after her, and cherish her as much as I do.
As for the C5, I need a car which is a lot younger, and has parts readily available so that if the car breaks down I won't be waiting 5 days for a part.

A very simple journey for a BX diesel with proven reliability and easy to fix maintain with readily available normal wear parts available off the shelf. C5 proven unreliability with time consumimg diagnostics required before even starting repairs! :?

I have to agree with the C5 comments - my Dad was a lifelong Citroen fan until he bought a C5, which cured him of the addiction...

Your BX seems good value, good luck with the sale!
