My parts catalogue shows that the part number quoted is for Estates.

Good spot and healthy bidding. Maybe it would be a plan to advise the seller that they are for estates as I'm sure their largesse would be wasted on mere BX saloon owners! ( That extra 20cm of length makes quite a difference)

Are new Xantia cylinders still available? I would have thought they are almost as rare as Bx ones.

Not sure tbh, perhaps we should start canabalising old xantia's??? There are 2 different varieties as well, the hydractive one's (which are no good for the BX) & the non hydractive one's. Visually, i've got no idea how to identify them apart, any ideas?

The Hydractive ones have much bigger pipes to them, presumably for faster response to pressure changes.. But do we actually know that Citroen are no longer supplying BX rear cylinders? I know it's something that's often talked about - back in 2005 when I first changed mine people were talking about difficulty sourcing, yet I had no issues apart from an overnight wait for the second one. I can't recall anybody going to their dealer and being told they are NFP, but I could be wrong.

Actually the seller did lose money on them, we have had considerable inflation since 1999 and the pound then was worth considerably more than it is now.

BX hatchback rear cylinders are definately no longer available from Citroen new. The Chevronics centre maybe able to source one though as they are extremely good at sourcing new bits(for a price). They helped me out on trying to Source GTI 8V/TZD wheel trims. Xantia ones are at about £100 each (that is the none hydractive ones). On the Xantia ones, the casting where the union screws in to it is quite a bit thicker than a BX one and has to be filed or machined down before you can fit it to a BX. It doesn't fit through the gap as it were. Or so the nice man at Pleiades said anyway :) I managed to get a second hand BX hatchback one relatively easy.
