me too, its slow and noisy but thats part of the charm, drove the DTR and GT back to back today, very different animals but both awesome in Mk1'ness ways. I do so love the PRN dash!

Postman came today and brought me these, is it Christmas?

£1 worth of assorted BX tat, vendor wouldnt ship so had to arrange a courier (£5.99 though), but the jack I assumed was used is brand new as is the mudflap, if a little grubby, which will go with the other one I have, I now have more BX instruction books than BX's too!

Well more BX goodies arrived today, mate of mine in the SD1 Club has just ultrasonically cleaned the injectors in the Xantia and delievered them to work along with a box with a pair of spot lamps which he said may interest me. Needless to say I snapped his hand off when I realised what colour and model they were....

They even came with there covers, working bulbs and screwed straight on to the existing back plates!

Indeed and they work! the covers looks great too. I thought about fitting the other set to the DTR but I wont want it to be a GT clone so they are for sale.

GT is in her winter hibernation now, shes been out and a bit this year, still that sticking caliper to sort and the sunroof, Kitch tells me taking the headlining out is easy so I may have a go. TZI and TRS are both keeping the GT company for now and the DTR is getting out and about aslong as the weather is dry!. Thanks to Kev R who bought from leboncoin for me a set of Mk1 front mudflap fixings (new and bagged) so I can fit the correct ones and pass the new Mk2 blade type to Jon Sanderson who has eben after some. It turns out that I actually ended up with TWO sets of fixings so if anyone needs a set of Mk1 front flap brackets then let me know!

Ive started work on tidying up the graphite speedlines I purchased from Justin, as usual the wheels themselves are ok but the silver rim has become tatty and corroded. A trip to tescos to buy some value brillo style pads, a stainless steel scouring pad and some cheap metal polish and heres the result!

One down, three to go, but for less than £10 the results are impressive and £90 cheaper than the local polisher wanted to do just the edges. In time I may get them done professionally as the 16TRS for which they are to be fitted deserves it.

Won't they just corrode now that you've take off the laquer?

There wasnt any lacquer in them. I will keep them polished and the TRS wont get used in winter.

I agree with Mulley,

I'd mask the painted part of the wheel and give the rim a couple of coats of clear laqueur before the tyre goes back on.

Then it should last years without any messing about.

..that_ Once they're pitted (and they will be if you don't lacquer them) filler is your only option, then you've got to paint them. A good PU lacquer for alloys will do the trick if you don't fancy trashing your lungs with 2pack! :shock:

Ok guys sounds like a good idea, im not a whizz with a spray can though so I may call upon the Paul Handley school of excellent alloy wheel refurbishment.......

Well not much has happened recently, a very active social life seems to get in the way :D ! Have been collecting parts over the past few days to send off to Skegness tomorrow, I have headlamps, indicator and a grille plus the bumper which has already been collected.

My friendly mechanic at work is leaving :cry: to start at Rolls Royce after promises of huge salaries etc, even though its only a guarateed 6 months contract to start with hes taken the carrot which is a shame as hes been here since school and is very good and is a VW fan! (is teh grass always greener), I wouldnt any entrust the fleet to any of the other lads (plus they make it quite obvious they dont want to work on them), so I will have to start doing more and more myself, although I am now aware of a Citroen specialist about 3 miles from my front door! [-o< for anything I wouldnt fancy doing myself!

Im itching to get WTF back on the road before the weather turns shite, but lack of time to finish off tarting up the graphite speedlines has hampered progress and the rims its sits are on are a right mix and match and not suitable for road use.

never mind, this time in 3 days I wil be in France with my mates so lifes good :lol:

Went to look at the bx collection with Mr H today, as had designs on the dtr estate which is part of the hoard he owns, sadly after initial inspection its scrap, lovely interior but the bodys rusty, the rear door shuts and sills are holed and the ignition lock and battery cables have been cut off (used on a mower!) rendering it immobile.

Shame.

The seatch for my ecosse challenge td continues.

Well it seems the TD idea is on hold for now as I will be moving house AGAIN!, yes I know its the 4th time in 6 years, but one of those was not through choice and the current residance which although is nice was a "stop-gap" as I couldnt stand another day where I was.

This one is a bit more expensive (its a 3 bedroom this time) so the spare cash I've had to lavish on cars etc will be reduced, but I have a drive for at least 4 cars plus a garage thats not 50ft away and has electricity etc!

As the property was built 40 years ago the garage is a proper size too!, its on the same road I spend the 1st 13 years of my life on, is very near my parents, brother, and school friends, so overall im happy.
