Post by Kitch »

Similar to mk2? Cos it looks pretty different up the back of it!

Ive done it on the GT when I changed the cable.

If you mean the dash pod itself, its actually easier than a Mk2! you have to remove the plastic "lid" on the roof of the pod (which houses the dials) which just unclips and the screws are underneath it.
Lots of Motors, mostly semi broken....

No I meant the whole dashboard - GT needs a weldathon up the A-pillars and it's a bit close for comfort!

It's ok, got it out now. Bastard easy compared with a mk2!

Yep - that's how it is on Timex anyway - there's enough slack to pull the instruments forward enough to reach the end easily! I have a complete dash assembly that came with the car - I'll take a couple of pics and stick them on here if you want.

It does, but the plastic clip that retains it to the back of the speedo unit is inaccessible! I'll put a pic up later.

I had the instruments out yesterday, once I had the 4 bolts out I pulled them forward, lifted them up then managed to get my hand underneath them to get to the clip.

GT one must be different - the clip is buried inside a plastic housing with a slot in the top a couple of MM wide. Just enough to get a small screwdriver in there!

I remember it being a faff when I did it on the GT, and it was dark and I ended up with less skin on my knuckles than when I started.
