I thought the GS DID have power steering? Or was it only certain models?

As far as I know, the GS was never fitted with power steering. Citroen (in their own unique way) designed the GS to a price, to compete with the likes of the Escort, and I guess power steering was left off rather than compromise the car elsewhere

Blimey. What's scary is that I've driven a couple of GSs and GSAs and never noticed!

I drove a mate's lowly 306 1.4petrol & thought the steering was rather light as there was no power steering, turns out the tyre pressures were set to some amazingly high level that made the car dangerous to drive at speed. So adjusted them accordingly & the 1st time he drove the car he nearly didn't make the corner as the steering weighted up, haha....

I certainly notice the difference between Timex and the GS, but mine's running on 155's instead of the standard 145's, which makes it a little heavier to steer.

Lack of power assistance certainly didn't seem to stop you getting round tight bends quickly...

I do like the amount of "counter-lean" that Mike has on, shame about the BX behind it though....

IIRC I was just in front of Mike when Hilary took that shot. In fact I think Hilary took a rather nice shot of myself enjoying the valver to the max.

I guess, narrow tyres & a petrol engine make for light steering, that and a slightly unweighted inside wheel as well :)

Seeing that reminds what a blast the Challenge was. Over too soon of course, so I'll have to sort something else out for 2014 ;)

That is such a beautiful photo - and yes I am still jealous that you all enjoyed yourself so much...

Phil, 2014 is a must for something similar! I missed the BXagon and this challenge, and have been trying to organise something similar since 2007 but due to people invariably dropping out at the last minute, it never happened :(

Slightly more relevant - sounds good Mike, hope you get it sorted!

Consider it done :) (although I've currently no real idea of what to do)... There's always Scotland 2013 though!

Something involving mountains (I mean REAL mountains :) ), beaches and pretty european scenery, like the alps/France/Switzerland etc.

Whilst I do really like Scotland, and haven't explored there enough by far yet - continental scenery just seems in a different league to GB stuff. Although I'll concede that Ireland is also stunning in places and also need to explore there more in depth.

I can just imagine cruising along a wordlessly beautiful, sunny mountain road/pass listening to Matt Monroe's on days like these with equally wordlessly cool sunglasses on, in my by then, perfect GT.

Damn. Reality check?
