Fitted the correct MK2 aerial that Shaun provided me with, so I've got a long, fairly straight, fairly shiny (now then!), apparently MK1 or earlier aerial if anyone needs one.

Door cards are back on and fit fairly well. My only problem is the strip of trim that goes along the top of the door card against the glass. The little clips that hold it on all fell off and got lost at some point.

No new damage to report either, yet...

It would be nice if there were any garages to rent round here, but it doesn't look like the council ever thought the residents would need them. Hmm.

If we could work out a way of getting it down here, I could be interested in the aerial. The one on Timex is missing the telescoping part, and if it's earlier than that the GS's aerial is a length of aluminium tube jammed over the remains of the original.

Perfectly happy to post it, the amount of help I've received recently from members means I'm very much feeling like repaying the favour to someone!

It isn't telescopic/extendable though, just a single piece with the fitment at one end. I'll post a close up tomorrow. :D

Pick would be great, otherwise you'd guarantee it's the wrong one!

Exactly. No problem, I'll post one up tomorrow. You may also just be able to see it on top of the car in some of the photos in this thread.

Aerials are hard to photograph! I'll have to speak to my Masters tutor about the best way to do it. :D

As you can see, a single piece. Also, due to foreshortening it looks shorter than it actually is.

Thanks for the pick - unfortunately it's totally different to mine and I don't think it'll fit :( , so I'll leave it for someone else.

Mk1 aerials are a straight one piece affair and are shiny!

Are they basically a length of thin steel rod, threaded at both ends with an acorn nut on the top end?

That sounds like what this is, just a straight single piece. The threaded attachement is the same size etc as the replacement shorter extendable one that Shaun supplied me with.

Bugger. I threw one in the bin last week that was on the silver BX as it was going rusty. Now I recall it also had a spring on the lower end to give a bit of flexibility. This is proof that I should NEVER throw anything away!

Mine's got a spring on, but looks like it's missing an upper section. Mine's black, but I've seen a shiny 2 piece one that looks like a complete version of mine on a mates series 1 CX. I'll take a pic and post it up later.
