Thanks for the warm welcome to the forum and all the kind comments guys.

My local Citroen dealer was worse than useless this afternoon when I called in to order a replacement piece of glass and a set of lock stalks. Their computer said both items were no longer available. I've only owned the car since the summer and this is the first time I've had to order parts for it. Is this par for the course throughout the UK when ordering BX bits from dealers or was I just unlucky this time?

Nevertheless, I've now sourced a replacement quarter glass which should be winging its way to me this week. Soon have the old blighter looking shipshape again.

Cheers,

Phil

There is unfortunately a growing "no longer available" list of BX parts, the good news is that e-bay usually throws up the goods at some point, or 2nd hand parts from club members are usually available for a modest cost, unless its really rare, & then it becomes a sensible price rather than being outlandish like a dealer part would have cost you if it was available.

One thing you can do is ask them to check stock at other dealers. Depending on how helpful/busy they are they can do that, and you can either get them sent to your local dealer, or phone up the one with it in stock and make them a cheeky offer!

I've previously had the NLA response (meaning no longer available from the factory), only to find when they did a dealer search they had the parts on the shelf themselves  So it pays to be persistent.

I'd never go to a dealer for glass. Autoglass still held stock of every BX piece of glass when last I checked, which was just last year.

Westbury? Blimey, I live literally 30 seconds away from Westbury... Had the fuel filler ripped off once and the tank emptied, but thats about it so far...

cant help with door lock knobs sadly, I never keep them...
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

The 'better' dealers will tend to do this automatically while you're on the 'phone to them - I found a decent dealer by trying several locally. A lot of parts are becoming NLA.

I used one ofthese as a keyless ignition switch on my project bike - sure it'd work fine as a remote locking switch.
