Vulgalour's 1.9 estate

Post by vulgalour »

I still don't think of this car as entirely mine because I've known it as Dollywobbler's stripey BX for so long. I've got a blog thread, obviously, but here's the short version. I know the car has had an interesting life having been around France and lived in welsh Wales, it's certainly well travelled. It was a bit weird paying for a car on the basis of my gut instinct, some photographs and an internet reputation, weirder still to entrust collection and delivery to someone I barely knew through a forum, but you only live once and it'll be a great story to tell my nephew when he's old enough to understand words properly.

The night it arrived was cold, wet and very dark (as night tends to be) and everyone was rather tired.

After a few days of hard graft and sticker removal, it's looking much closer to how I'd like it to be.

Planning to keep it clean and pretty much as Citroen intended. The BX is a stunning car that I don't believe has much room for improvement aesthetically. Some tweaks will likely happen with minor bits of trim and I'd like to fit some slabby three spoke alloys, probably from a Saab.

Dammit, there's so many threads about this car that I've lost the one I wanted to post this on - here it is, admiring the view at Clee Hill nr Ludlow at the Tech weekend last August :)

Carrying them round??? I dont think so, the car is now registered as C1 TBX!

The enquiry is complete.
The vehicle details for C1 TBX are:
Date of Liability 01 09 2013
Date of First Registration 11 10 1985
Year of Manufacture 1985
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1905cc
CO2 Emissions Not Available
Fuel Type PETROL
Export Marker N
Vehicle Status SORN Not Due
Vehicle Colour CREAM
Vehicle Type Approval Not Available
Vehicle Excise Duty rate for vehicle
6 Months Rate £121.00
12 Months Rate £220.00

In for her MOT next week and will be taxed soon after.

I think the point was being made that 'legally' the spacing should reflect the C1 TBX registration as opposed to C1T BX. But unless you get pulled I wouldn't worry. There's far worse out there! Nice shot of the cars on Clee Hill. Spent many an hour there as a kid.

I do indeed, I bought C1 TBX off reg-transfers in December 2011 as a present to myself as it was bloody awful month!

A well spotted find that.
I have to say that on a BX like the GT, I'd miss the original plates, a sort of authentic date stamp + the geographical aspect, it tells that little bit more about the car

Seeing as we seemed to be having trip down memory lane (or the year before last lane) I thought I'd bundle in.

One or two highlights . . .

I thought those fogs looked alright at the time . . . they're pants aren't they!?

Image

Last but not least Mr. Michael Cottingham and Mr. Leonard Drew, doyens of the CCC D section go head to head (as it were) in a 'who's got the biggest willy?' contest.

er . . . that would be Mike. 8)

(Sorry, 'Vulgalour' - seem to have gone a bit off topic there  )
