Am I right in thinking 2-row and 3-row ECUs (presumably by this we mean the difference between ML4.1 and M1.3) will have different reactions to 95 RON fuel, because the 2-row lacks the knock sensor that adjusts ignition timing if it detects sloppy running?

Yeah, the 3-row deals with unleaded better because of the knock sensor.

Nothing to really deal with from what I can tell though.

I always run the valver on super (98 Ron) unleaded, it really does not like the 95 stuff. Whilst in Switzerland last year I had the opportunity to try it on some 100 Ron fuel. Slight improvement noticed, but nothing drastic. Total sell a fuel additive called 'Nettoyant Soupapes' which sadly isn't available in the UK. Dosed the valver with this stuff whilst on the challenge last year. Huge difference, engine so much more responsive.
It also seems to be run better on the Beru plugs I put in last year. Quad electrode ones, bought from Mister Auto in France.

I did runs with and without Super unleaded, at opposite ends of the month. Difference was negligable, possibly 1 or 2 hp at the wheels. But because I didn't do them on the same day, there are too many other variables in it to call the results a fact.

Get it down mate
Thats the kind of thing I had in mind really.
With the cost of fuel these days if it makes naff all difference to BHP I mayaswell use 95RON, as long as it doesn't start pinking like a CVH on a hot day...

Got much on in may? Ihave 2 weeks off at somepoint during May, not altogether sure on dates yet, didn't actually bother to ask..

Great stuff, sorry I couldn't make it.

Had mine on Kitch's rollers before last xmas, and you had plenty of 16Vs there anyway.

Interesting notes by Kitch too.

Hope to make it to the next technical meet.

Glad you all had fun.

You're a gentleman! I shall have a look in the holiday book, if I remember... I usually only find out I am on holiday when I stroll in to be told I shouldn't be there...

I suspect that conversation might go differently if it was me and my work
work :"where are you?"
me : "under a bus"
work: "dumb ass" <klick>
