Surprised you didn't go over to Belgium and fetch it! Glad it turned up in one piece at least, if slightly damaged.

Paul did indeed set off for Belgium, but started getting worried when he came over the brow of a hill and spotted the great pyramid of Giza. #-o

*sorry paul* :)

Some more bits for my BX summer makeover. A new centre console with no rips in the hand brake rubber (yes, really! ) and a pair of foglight surrounds I've just refurbished for the TGD (mmmm is there any wiring on the TGD so that they might actually work?)

Compared to rebuilding back ends and re-welding subframes a mere bagatelle perhaps, but there's a great sense of joy and contentment to be got from small pieces of plastic I find? 8)

mmm bagatelle. I've been considering replacing the damaged rubbers on Stripey's centre console with some draught excluder brushes fixed to the blind side, I'm guessing the original rubbers are made of pure unobtanium.

They're bonded to the console so you have to buy the whole thing - if you can find one. I noticed some Mk 1s had brushy draught excluder type stuff round the hand brake though.

I found one in a French scrapyard with intact rubbers - the first and only time I've seen one in as new condition apart from my Dad's back in ~1991. And they'd deteriorated by the time he sold the car.

Wiring for the foglights isn't standard on lesser models unfortunately, but not tricky to wire up. Do you have the lights and a switch?

Ooo is that the sound of a man who knows about BX electrics riding to the rescue? Why yes, it's Sir Matthew of Fenwick!

I have got the lights Mat but I need to get hold of a switch. There's probably a couple on those TZDs over in South Clifton - I could go and nab one of those.

I saw a film once where that was the opening line. As it turned out I don't think there was anything wrong with the ladies fridge and by the look of him I don't think the guy could have fixed it even if there was.

It chills perfectly off gas, but when I switch over to mains it warms the fridge.

Oh and while you're at it the toilet doesn't flush anymore!! :D
