hoses

Post by Phil Brook »

Can anyone tell me where I can obtain hoses from? The hose from the water pump around the engine block needs replacing. I have fixed a repair which is working at present but it seems difficult to get so ordinary a part!

Ebay may be a good bet but that will involve a lot of searching and chance.

I got hold of a brand new bottom hose on it for an n/a diesel last year, very glad to get it.
Most pipes are now not available, some still may be so at a main stealer but you will need the part no. If you let the forum know what type of Bx you have, hopefull Malcolm[Citronut] will be able to give you the part no. Oh, and BX pipes are not 'ordinary' any more.

When I was sourcing hoses for Timex last year (early 19 diesel), the only parts available from Citroen were the 2 main radiator hoses and a blanking cap for the manifold on the back of the block by the water pump. There was a few more bits available for later models but not much!

There are silicone hose kits available for valvers, but I don't know what may be interchangeable from that. I ended up replacing some hoses with silicone ones, and may eventually have to do them all that way. If your hose is the same pattern as mine you should be able to make something up with standard bends, straights and joiners - have a look at the Merlin Motorsport website for ideas.

I've just had a thought - a mate of mine used to get batches of hoses made up for H vans by a bloke in the Forest of Dean - I'll see if he's still going as he was prepared to make small batches at a reasonable price (ie less than Citroen).

Many thanks for ideas- silicone looks like it might be the best bet for the long term.

What model is it? I've just bought new bottom hoses and one of the oil filter cooler hoses for the TZDs, still available from Citroen. The other oil cooler hose and the top hose aren't available though.

Mike - I'd be interested to hear what this hose bloke would say.
