I was going to invent something better, but there is always something more important or interesting to do on the car.
1. Some Xantia ones are similar but have a metal hog ring closing the gap on the part that threads onto the spigot. They are all hidden though - used to keep wiring looms etc in place.
2. Partial success using a cable tie to again close the gap
3. Great success by screwing on an M6 (I think) nut onto the plastic part, again to close the gap.
