True, but they dont push my button, I would always feel I bought the wrong car! Its either a Morris or a Beetle, which I cant afford a decent one and the rough ones are money pits.

The waiting is nearly over - looks like I shall be jingling down the road tomorrow! (I've never heard a money pit being driven, but I imagine it would jingle!)

Excellent news Des. No matter how much it has finally cost you ( a lot I imagine ), it's still cheaper and more enjoyable, than spending said dosh on a new car. Looking forward to seeing the results in the flesh. =D> :)

Dollywobbler wrote:Good shout Mark - I'm a big fan of the 'bigger Mini.' Great handling, easy to work on and utterly charming - especially with the strip speedo. Or, go for the Vanden Plas version, which is like an 1100 trying to be a Rolls-Royce. They're seriously plush! Wood, leather and masses of sound deadening.
I've always had a soft spot for the '1100's'. Mum & Dad had a succession of them in the '70's. all in BRG and all of them called "Betsy", complete with a sprig of heather in the front grille. Lovely cars. :)

Ah nostalgia. Not what it used to be!! :-)

Well, they do have a remarkably good parts supply and club following it must be said. Just don't overdo it on the bends...

Poor thing! At least my wife walked away from it with just a couple of bruises. Scary stuff!

How about a citroen dyane Tim? They are still fairly reasonably priced considering how much a 2cv sells for these day's, they are slow, but have soft suspension & would be able to keep up with traffic, whereas in a minor you'll be struggling tbh.

Having some experience of riding in a Moggie in the not too distant past I hope you don't live in an area like Central London with many a speed bump. Good fun on my Gilera NordWest at 50-60mph ooops! but hell in a Moggie!.
