I'm warming to the countryman, & you certainly don't notice the looks when you're sat inside. Wifey was wanting one, i said too expensive at the mo, wait until they are a few years old & then perhaps. There is quite a lot more room inside them than the other mini's & i do quite like the idea of a 4x4 for snow duties :)

The Countryman is the most hideous car every produced. Such a horrible, bloated looking thing. I also ponder the wisdom in having the greater running costs of a 4x4 for the odd flake of snow. I sold my 4x4 just before last winter - a BX on winter tyres seemed entirely efficient. I had to go and help dig the 4x4 I sold out of a snowdrift on the other hand! (chap who bought it got a bit too ambitious!)

Be fair, Derbyshire has got more chance of snow than most of Britain. But I am afraid the Mini does little for me either. The ladies love them, though. So its a double whammy. Do not buy one and get stuck at home for sever nagging as to not buying a 4 x 4, or have one and escape as far as a snowdrift by the Wallabies Pouch real ale house, honest guv. drunk

I was fair! I live in the Welsh mountains. And not all women love them. My good lady absolutely hates anything with a Mini badge that isn't mini-sized.

I love the Mini love hate thing. I've only enjoyed the mini experience as it was the only modern car that i really wanted. Its great fun to drive which bought back the smile to driving once again & of course the performance is superb. Looks is clearly a personal choice, some would say the BX is an ugly looking machine ;)

Its is, The BX Estate anyway!

A lady person who wants to live on a Welsh mountain about as far from a Marks and Sparks as you can get is a rare breed. Personally I think there should be Government grants and such like to encourage an increase, but sadly this is not policy, so you are in a privileged position. Next you will be telling my you have a M in L who warms your slippers, when your coming round for high tea.

Wales was designed to take the sting out of any bad weather that was coming towards central England. Bolted on round or near Offa's Dyke. You can see the plastic beading in some places where its exposed in a ditch like structure. That is one thing. Then the English discovered they could charge the Welsh to live there as well. Rotten bounders, the lot of them/us (part Welsh).

Sadly, my M-in-L died many years before I came onto the scene. Perhaps I got lucky again? Not sure though. She seemed a nice lady by all accounts. I do realise that my wife is one of a rare breed though. It's entirely marvellous being married to a woman who hates shopping as much as I do, and who regards visiting a hairdresser as about as desirable as visiting the dentist.

Is a BX ugly though? I've never thought so. Sure, it's more interesting than beautiful perhaps, but it's easily one of the most attractive cars of the 'designed with a ruler' era. Estates that are converted saloons can always end up a big gawky. The BX could be worse...

With you on the Laguna, I thought the original hatch was quite a nice looking car and drove well but the estate was hideos!

I actually quite like the Laguna  But then again I prefer the BX estate to the hatchback looks wise, so best to ignore my opinion on matters of good taste...

I can't complain (well I can, but shouldn't really) in the marriage department. She's also an engineer, and bright so can do mechanical things. It's just that for some reason she thinks there are better things to do in life!  Will be 8 years a week on Friday, and over 15 since we got together

Jaguar Avon Estate, was going to be a limited production run of 250 but fizzled out with less than 20 units being built, I wonder why
