Looking top dollar!

More rust than i expected, but i suppose the harder you look the more you find. Having said that, it's been nearly 2 years since i've been under it.

Should last another 20 years with those repairs!

Most of it was hidden mate but gladly mostly surface.
The only failure point I can think of s this darned white/greyish smoke.
I'll hopefully be able to check the timing again tomorrow since I moved the pump but I may have to bite the bullet and re shim the cam followers. But I'd expect an uneven idle if a too thick shim prevented a valve from closing.

Excellent work on dealing with the ravages of the tin-worm. I would never have had the tenacity to get to grips with that level of corrosion and you've done a fine job. I particularly like the photo of the hole big enough to read a paper through. No doubt about the lesson though... The St Tropez experience has taught me that prevention is better than cure and I am lining up the Terrano for a good honest underbody clean and wax. It's as solid as a rock but there are some surface patches appearing and they will be eradicated!

I think you can read the paper through most holes!

She is now, as far as I can see, rust free (with the exception of the sills at the A, B and C pillars which I will do after the MOT.
I shall be putting the passenger seat, air circ fan and rear wheels on tomorrow and she can finally rest on her four rubbery corners.

The white smoke has settled down a bit, to the extent where it's worth trying for MOT as is. However, I noticed that the white - or rather greyish smoke is only emitted when the throttle is released after the engine momentarily hitting the governor limit. I know air is getting into the pump and air in a Lucas affects timing, so fingers crossed once I sort the air leak and bleed the pump properly, then I could be smoke free!

Anyway, which rear lamp is better you think?

I had a similar dilemma as I had one green, one smoked rear light, so I went for smoked. It works better with white, I think.

:mrgreen: smoked is common?! I have to say that the smoked set I got from either Jay or Doc or possibly Vanny, but all of my cars have even fitted with the alternative. Is the alternative actually a green tint though? I find it difficult to tell the difference between them all. There is even a red tint isn't there?

Yes, i've seen the blue one's once. You could fit the phase 1 valver clear lights?

What's that? A very early mk one?

I did wonder about fitting the normal mk one type as Mulley was alluding to. Did you say early valver because mk one types won't fit Mulley? Different connections on mk one types?

I want to fit mk one wings and indicators. I'm hoping that with the valver bumpers and mk one wings she'll look a bit different, special (like me :-)) and perhaps a bit like a BX Sport.

What do people think? Not one for the purists I know

I must admit to not knowing whether mk1 rears are the same as phase1 valver rear lights? I'm sure i have a set of the clear lights brand new in my stash somewhere, but have nothing to compare them to so can't answer that question.
