Well, with a tinge of sadness I report that the estate has passed hands. Between Si and myself we've had the car since August 2004, but the time came to change. It drove to the midlands, but made it fairly clear it wanted to stay there

However I'm also happy to report that the car is now in the hands of Tim, who loves BXs as much as a man can! So I'm happy it's gone to a good home. :)

Well a great day for the estate yesterday.....

Two correct colour front wings, dent and rustfree with just a couple of small marks to look at, plus a drivers door also in the correct colour!

Correct RD trims (and steelies to follow- thanks tizzy dee), rear headrests (proper ones) in the herringbone trim ready to match the new interior being collected next week (out of a 40k miles car), gear lever gaiter, knob, loads of bits of trim (parcel shelf support, clock blank and speedo binnacle wing nuts etc) and estate front bumper inserts too!

I have next week off so disassemble will begin in ernest, then I shall be using it to deliver presents over Christmas!

Is it likely to be the same as fitted to a TGD? If so I'm hopefully off to strip parts off the estate I'm told is in Harry Bucklands next Wednesday.

Could be depending on the age, it's the red/grey/green herringbone one.

What have I done!!!

Work started today, mostly dismantlying and seeing what needs work and what needs replacing.

Carpet, centre console, glove box and seats removed, carpet should respond toa clean, floor pan is solid asides a few bits of surface rust which I will clean up, kurust and waxoil.

Wobbly gearchange be gone! a couple of 2p washers has removed some of the slop but theres obviously wear in the selector rod ball joints, a job for another day.

Front wings, bumper and drivers door removed, the bottom door pin was rusted solid and took ages, glass, lock and door mirror swopped over and new door fitted in place albeit with a couple of alan keys for door pins as it will need to come off again as the top hinge weld is coming away (has been repaired before).

NSF inner wing as you can see is a bit of a state as is the A pillar on that side, which may mean THAT door has to come off too.....

NSF headlamp has been stuck back together but is letting water in (new one sourced) and both inidicator lenses are either cracked or the fixing tabs are shot, (will keep an eye out for a cheapo pair of new ones)

New front wings will be fitted loosley (without wheelarch liners) to allow the car to be driven to Shauns to get the welding done.

My back garden looks like a scrap yard!
