With this and the TGD looking so good you'll have to get another BX for a daily hack

I have mentioned the same thing, thankfully being self employed the daily commute is measured in feet rather than miles!
Lots of Motors, mostly semi broken....

Re: Paul's polishin' blog
Hmmm - this is something I have thought about, and even if I had enough money (which I haven't) if I bought another BX 'as a hack' within a couple of years it would all be sorted out, be far too good to use, and then I'd have to buy another BX 'as a hack', then within a couple of years it would all be sorted out, be far too good to use, and then I'd have to buy another BX 'as a hack', . . . (etc.) then within a couple of years . . . anyway, you get the picture - see the dilemma!?
As Tim rightly points out I don't have a big commute, make very modest demands on my cars and I know when enough's enough!

Re: Paul's polishin' blog
I went over and picked up the Hurricane from Tim's today after what seemed like an interminable wait - it was worth it though. The chaps over at Tim's place have done a fantastic job and I'm delighted with the results (the refurbed wheels are particularly spanking ). It now needs a good valet, one or two new bits and pieces fitting, plus assorted fettling - but it's definitely NEC bound now. Thanks Tim!

Re: Paul's polishin' blog
Thanks Mark - I went over to fit the new mudflaps and tailblazer today but it was bloody raining.
(I got the old one off with fishing line and prayer! It really didn't want to move).

Puts my efforts with a rattle can and a pair of new number plates to shame!

Re: Paul's polishin' blog
Ah shuddup Mat - I'm usually rattle can Paul aren't I!? My Dad left me a few bob so I've got few of the things done I normally just daydream about. I love a shiny old trailer tart as much as the next man, but it's not - in the end - really about the shiniest or most valuable car. It's about a group of people getting together to share an enthusiasm (that the rest of the world think is bonkers), drink tea, chew the fat, dick about and have a jolly nice time, and I reckon - as far the NEC is concerned - that's on the cards!mat_fenwick wrote:Puts my efforts with a rattle can and a pair of new number plates to shame!

Re: Paul's polishin' blog
I popped over to Mulley's this afternoon to have a bit of a BX catch-up, although we hadn't planned to actually do anything as the weather was crap. When I arrived, BX legend Shaun Lloyd - obviously undeterred by the elements - was casting his healing hands over Matt's TXD and repairing the non-functioning heater blower (it's fixed now). Some rust was discovered in the front sub-frame and the rear doesn't look that happy: Shaun take up your welder and step forward!
Shaun's non-turbo TZD auto really is a beauty - amazing condition and low miles for a diesel (about 88k). It's for sale and about to be advertised on Car&Classic for around the 1250 mark - if anyones interested he's open to offers: it's a cracking car.
After I got my new tailblazer screwed on (at last) we eat sandwiches and Bonoffie pie, drank Coke and talked about HiFi - pretty good all in all! It was great to give the Hurricane a good run but not very happy about the rain.

Re: Paul's polishin' blog
The Hurricane made it home OK after its big adventure and is now cleaned and polished and put away under its cover. I think it's probably time to garage it now, and have been making enquiries with the local council. It still needs a new clutch and a bit of welding under the bumpers but should be going up to Shaun's to get that done shortly.
The TGD needs a few things doing, not least rear arm bearings and front discs and pads. I've also had a very reasonable quote from Barry Annells to fit a power steering rack - it needs it really (or rather my shoulders do! ).
Thanks to Mat F for fitting the new radio at the NEC - I just have to figure out how it works now.

Re: Paul's polishin' blog
. . . and it judders - alot. I'll let Shaun have a look and have the final say, but it's getting near the end of its useful life, I have a brand new one and may as well get it fitted while I can.
