Valver parts needed

Does anyone have the following that they need shifting for beer tokens or know of the best place to get the best price?

Where possible, i'd prefer oem one's, but if good quality & cheaper alternatives are available, thats ok as well

1) Throttle Position Sensor

2) HT Leads (Kitch has suggested Magnecor KV85's), i've done a quick search on e-bay & there seem to be plenty of KV85's, except there are different part numbers depending upon vehicle, is there a specific 16v one that i need? Or are there any alternatives that are cheaper as the price has got me scared.

3) Full Cambelt Kit including the tensioners (is there just the 2 tensioners?)

4) Waterpump

5) Alternator & A/C belt(s)

6) Hydraulic pump belt

I'm sure other parts when Kitch gets back to me will also need sourcing, so will post back on here to see if anyone can help out.

FWIW, the previous owner of our Disco fitted Magnecor leads 90k miles ago in 2003. Given that's it's run on LPG all that time, which is notorious for finding any weakness in the ignition system (some people suggest replacing every year), I'd say they're probably worth the extra. Might be too fat to fit under the cover if that bothers you?

Things like belts I'd say are standard motor factors stuff.

TWO tensioners, no idlers - you have to set the tension correctly on both belt runs to maintain correct cam timing.

You should be able to hunt down a Dayco kit for around £80 Mulley. Waterpump will be about £20. You'll have more fun finding the cambelt covers, and you really do need those.

Leads-wise, you don't have to have the KV85's in particular. The lower spec blue ones will realistically last as long and do the same job. I went KV85 on mine because it was back in the days when I was being a tart about colours in the engine bay

I think ive a new old stock alternator belt in the shed in stock. I will check.

I would recommended spending the bit extra and getting the KV85 leads.

About the camblet covers, are they specific 16v one's? or will diesel one's fit ok?

Unless Citroen produced a twin cam diesel engine and put it in the BX without telling me, I very much doubt the cam covers will be interchangeable ...

I don't know the 16v engine. Are the cam belt covers metal or plastic?. Do not forget it is possible to get 'new' parts if you are prepared to 3D print them. A useable nylon is available, sure the surface is a bit rough but mechanically it is fair. Did one job where it took full on mains ater pressure + with a part.
Also some sintered metals are available. Thers a lot of rubbish stuff about 3D for all but if you know the guys with the right kit some very good things can be made. Done lost wax aluminium castings and other stuff off 3D models, new crankcase anyone?.

If you get really stuck and have acess to a set I could 3D model them and get them made. I have the software tools and 15 years+ of 3D modelling.

As you already know Matt, there are distinct advantages in buying genuine water pumps which is what I would be buying.

On the contrary I would just be looking at cheaper aftermarket stuff, apart from the belt kit etc, but you won't be able to find cheapo versions for that engine anyway.

yes Mat you are correct, i just had another look on service citroen, although the drawing only shows one tensioner and no idlers, it does state two required next to the part No,
