Right then....
About to change the gearbox (1990 TZD), and may as well fit new plastic bushes for the actuating arm at the same time. But I seem to remember trying this before and not being able to work out how to get the actuating arm off the pivot. Specifically getting the retaining threaded pin out. I also seem to remember someone on here telling me how to remove it easily, but not 'til after I'd already refitted the gearbox.... Anyone care to enlighten me in advance this time?!

its not threaded but just an interference fit,
lock grips onto the end and tap/ bash it outwards

Neither of those worked!
Nut stripped the thread, mole grips just slipped off repeatedly.
I wanted to change the bushes because a: the arm was really stiff, and b: I had some on the shelf. There was no play in trhe bushes.
In the end I spent ten minutes working the lever back and forward and dribbling oil into the bushes and freed it off, so all's well. Otherwise I'd have had to drill the bastard out.

Or I could have welded an extra bit on the end and used a slide hammer I suppose. didn't think of that 'til just now!

These were proper Irwin Vise Grips - albeit small ones. Absolutely no sign that the pin wanted to move at all...
