The work on the Picasso doesn't surprise me - there's been some discussion on the subject in the CCC mag, mainly about how Citroen try to wriggle out of their anti corrosion warranty with it. Apparently other Xzaras and Xantias can do the same, but not as badly.

This week's easy job, wheel trims. i would have preferred OE ones but since they are hard to find I room Tims advice and got cheapies, they are perhaps a little too shiny for the car, maybe I need to scuff them a bit. Will post a photo once I figure out how!

Hi Tim, I have cleaned it and I will polish it soon - I have done some test patches but there is so little paint on the roof/bonnet that I don't think it is going to make too much difference. I am slowly getting rid of algae from the trim though.

Here is how she looks now - what do we think of the wheel trims - I'm not convinced?

She looked good today - as it was raining so I thought I would post a couple more pictures of the "Tatty Bus" - with her shiny wheel trims. :D

I'm not convinced about the trims either, but better than tatty wheels, and will do until something you like better comes up.

I quite like them.

Just out of curiosity what colour is the car? It looks the same as mine. Just wondering...

Hi Mulley, here are some larger pics, I had trouble uploading as the site told me my pictures were too large.

The car looks a lot better when wet than dry - hence never buy a car in the rain!

Hi I am sorry not sure what the colour is, I am going to check the paint code and let you know. I do need to get some paint - does anyone know where you can get paint for BXs, or is it a case of getting it made up?

Thanks

Attention this week -

So by the end of last weekend I had a cleaned, wire brushed and treated boot floor, and I tackled the inner wing (Passenger Side) - thankfully no welding is required but any blown seam sealer was removed, rust treated and I will paint over these areas at the weekend - whoever said TZDs are a pain to work on wasn't wrong - there is no room to get to anything :-(

So I have my new glovebox (with lid) and a pair of clear and intact interior lights - these will go in at the weekend - and if I am brave enough I will work out how to remove the LHM tank and do the other side inner wing.

Also - rear spheres and rear height corrector.

I will post pics later.

Cheers

So as with all projects (I am a project manager!) we are behind schedule on what I had hoped to achieve. I have pretty much all the parts I think I need - now I have to fit them all. However the Citroen Dyane is now back on its restored chassis and just needs floors painting :-)

I have preserved one inner wing by using the following method.

A - Removal of the air box (not easy on a TZD)
1. Remove clips, all three pipes (air in/out and oil breather)
2. Take out both sections top, and bottom of the air filter housing
3. Using cable ties, move wiring out of the way (you can loosen and re-use the Citroen cable clips)

B
1. Remove and grind out any blown seam sealer
2. Wire brush any flaking paint or rust areas (I used an air tool)
3. Cleared all loose rust from air filter bracket (I was lazy and didn't remove the bracket entirely just worked underneath)
4. While you have access to the back of the front cross member it is worth checking here and treating the same

C
1. De-grease the area
2. Paint a rust stabiliser (I use a Granville Heavy Duty Rust Cure Converter 1 litre Brand New S405 available from E Bay - and better than Krust, Jenolite & even Bilt Hamber Hydrate 80 - which is not as good as it claims and very expensive!)
2. When dry repeat the process which will give a good solid surface to paint

D
1. De-grease
2. Paint the surface with a good quality primer - I use Zinc 182 (this is the stage I have reached)

E
1. De grease and scotch pad the area
1. Re-paint in factory colours if you are fussed - I will just be using a similar flat grey enamel topcoat

Job done see pics.

Nice job but those photos labelled offside inner wing appear to be relating to the nearside inner wing.
